Really bad battery life

I've had the Incredible for about a month now. I don't use it to talk very much during the day and run minimal apps on it. I use the app killer to make sure nothing runs in background. Just sitting on my desk with very minimal use, the battery will only last from 7am to 5pm on a full charge from the night before.

The battery life is pretty similar to my analog Motorola StarTac circa 1997. It really is pathetic. Anyone have a suggestion? Is there a better battery to buy and put in this thing?

there are extended batteries. twice the life. but they bulk up your phone (come with a different back door casing because they are thick). it sounds to me though, that you either actually have a bad battery, or have many things running that you are unaware of. search the forums because there are some great tips on improving the life (besides app killers), a few things you can do......make sure wifi isn't on except when you use it. change the settings for things like how often it updates your weather widget, pulls email, checks facebook, or anything that the phone is constantly checking. i have my email set to pull every 15 minutes (i think?). i did something to facebook so it doesn't check for updates often, i changed the settings on the weather widget (i just update it when i actually check it, instead of automatically). there are many things you can customize to increase the life. however, i text quite a bit and play with the phone quite a bit. i wouldn't say i am a heavy user, but i use it enough. i get a full day. 3-4 hours of up time and 20+ hours of awake time, which means i can have it on all day and actually be using it for 3-4 hours during the day and it holds the cahrge. there are also ways to find out which apps are really draining it (but i don't know how?).

I would highly recommend getting an extended battery for your phone. It is well worth the money. Then your phone should have more juice.

I purchased the extended batteries but even those don't last to much longer. What I did was to add the broadband connect widget to my home screen and only connect when I need something, that has made all the difference in the world. I still get text messages and everything except internet. Give that a try.

This may seem a bit unusual, but I've used this and notice a significant difference in my battery life. I hope I don't get in trouble for quoting the other forum.

1. Plug in he charger and charge until the light turns green.

2. Unplug the charger

3. Turn off the phone

4. Plug the charger back in (red light will turn on again) and charge until its green.

5. Unplug the charger

7. Plug the charger back in (red light will turn on once again) and charge until its green again.

8. You are ready to go with a FULL battery and can now turn on your phone.

Hopefully this method is only temporary, this should be something HTC looks into fixing very fast!

I am a lite to moderate user (don't make too many calls, use the facebook app and do a little text messaging throughout the day), but the battery that came with the phone only gave me a day and a half use at the most.

I bought the extended battery (3150) from www.seidioonline.com. It has been the best investment in the phone that I have made so far. I'm not really happy with the extra bulk it adds to the phone, but the extra battery life has been tremendous.

As an example, I charged my phone last Sunday night as I went to bed. It is early Thursday morning and I still have 70% charge remaining.

I have the Seidio 1750 extended battery and can easily get 1 1/2 to 2 days with moderate use. And it is same size as the stock battery.

Here's what I've done to save battery:

1. Use wifi whenever possible.

2. Go into your accounts and diable the facebook sycing in "Facebook for HTC Sense"

3. Under your google account (also in accounts) disable the calender and contact sync - these are the big ones. I noticed that they were a huge drain on the battery and after disabling them I've had great results. You can always update your calender manually through the application (menu - more - refresh).

I read a yahoo article. it said:

You can shorten the recharge method to:

1. Plug in the charger and charge until the light turns green.
2. Turn off the phone.

3. Leave the charger plugged in. After the phone goes off, the charge light will turn on again

4. Charge until its green again.
5. You are ready to go with a FULL battery and can now turn on your phone.

Also on the batteries, according to this the HTC 2150 battery carries 100% of it's rated capacity, some others, (like all the Seidios) don't.

I did this a few hours ago. It made ALL of the difference in the world. I went from the battery dying by noon to now lasting for 14 hours or more. I turned off all the auto updating for Facebook, Twitter, Google Calendar, Contacts, etc. Bingo! Problem solved. Thanks.
