Having Trouble With Copying Songs From Computer to Droid

I keep trying to copy songs from my computer to my droid. I have inserted the USB cable into the computer & I touched the mounted as well. However, when I go to my computer & go to removed disk e it tells me I need to insert a disk into the drive. The memory card is in my phone. I have never had this happen before & never had any problems. Can anyone help me?

Also, another question regarding the phone & sd card storage. When I go to my settings for SD Card & Phone storage it shows total space 14.83GB. Available space shows 14.35GB. Then at the very bottom it says available space 212 MB.

What is the actual space I have for the phone and the SD Card. No one seems to be able to understand this or know.

Ahh. I'm really not sure, Jannac. I would do a search for Apps and see if it comes up. I wish you luck! /// In the meantime.... since I posted last, I went hunting around for another utility that would do file (music) transfers, because I wanted to put on my COMPUTER all the wonderful songs I have downloaded on my phone. So I have found a Motorola software program that is much more sophisticated than the AudioGalaxy: Motorola Media Link. http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/US-EN/Consumer-Product-and-Services/Software/Motorola-Media-Link-US-EN?pubid=987654 I have just used it successfully, via USB cable, to put all the great songs I have put on my phone on my PC and it worked like a charm. I think it's much better than the AudioGalaxy, which didn't find all my music and didn't allow me to choose drives and folders to import music from (mine is scattered about a bit). So now all my music is in one handy spot. I chose Windows Media Player as my default music medium since it will also play .wav files successfully, whereas iTunes (I believe) will only play MP3s. Now my next search is for software/app that will creatively let me create playlists easily and then sync them between the two devices! (I've just had the Droid2 for a week and am having a blast with it... can you tell??) I hope you have success with the Motorola Media Link -- wish you well! Let me know how you make out!

Your coping the music from a disc to your PC then to the phone? If so more than likely its copy righted.

The 212 is your phones internal memory. The SD card reads lower than what it is because of format. Happens in all computers. If you have 50 MB you really have a litlle less than what its rated at.

Hi: Thanks for the reply. I am stil confused on the memory. My memory card is a 16GB since it was one I had before.

When I go to applications it shows that my SD Card(493M/1518M) 3%. The it shows applications (52M/261M) 19%). So now

I am really confused. Bottom line is do I have alot of space left on my phone & my sd card? I don't have many apps on my phone.

HI: Thanks for the quick response. However, the songs are already on my computer under Media Player & they are songs I

copied off my own CD's & some I downloaded from Amazon. Like I had mentioned I have never had this problem before.

I had accidently deleted a song off my Droid & was trying to put it back on & that's when it kept telling me to insert a disk in removable disk e. It just made no sense since I have done this numerous times. The song I was downloading was a song I had downloaded to my phone & computer that I purchased from Amazon.

Again, thanks for any help with this. This just upsets me because like I said I have never had doing this in the past which makes no sense.

The percentage is the percent of the memory either internal or on the card, that is used. 3% you would have 97% free.

The music I have no clue unless it is in a format not supported by Droid 1.

Hi: Again, thanks for the quick response, when I go into the Windows Media Player, connect my Droid to the USB & mount the phone as always, I go to My Computer & go to removable disk & it keeps saying insert a disk. The disk already in my phone & never been removed. I have no trouble playing my music already on the phone, my picture gallery, etc. but can't understand what happened with this issue? Maybe I will need to go out to Verizon & have them check my phone or disk because I don't understand why all of a sudden this keeps happening. I have transferred this song before.

Try these steps to correct that issue:

1. Log in as Administrator account in windows or any other account with administrative privileges

2. Insert your removable disk into the USB port.

3. Click Start, now right click on my computer and select manage

4. Now, click Disk Management

5. Right click on your removable drive partition and select Change Drive Letter and Paths under Disk Management ( you can find your drive easily through size )

6. Change the drive letter some other drive letter like X: or Z: which is not reserved by some other drive on windows.

7. Then reboot the computer.

For the memory issue.

From the main screen, touch menu tab
Touch Settings
Touch SD Card & Phone Storage

If storage shows total space 14.83GB and available space shows 14.35GB. You would have 14.35GB of available memory to use, which is a lot of memory. The 212 MB is just the phones memory.

I found an absolutely wonderful App right on my phone (Droid 2); AudioGalaxy. You go to www.audiogalaxy.com to register and download their "Helper". It scans for all the MP3s on your computer and assembles them in a library. I don't believe I did a thing and, seamlessly, it transferred ALL the MP3s to my phone automatically! It was like magic! I did not use a USB port connection at all, but may have been connected to my home network.
