how do I record something from another device

Question

I have a message on my dinosaur-land-line phone that I want to save.  Is there a way my Droid X can record this? And if so, how??

There are a variety of Sound recording APPS. I use "Virtual Recorder",  free in Market. It allows you to convert the output file to an MP3 directly on your phone.
