So while at work and out on the water my cellphone got caught and went overboard while crossing from one boat to another. So I went to Verizon since I pay my insurance to them. I then found out that they have farmed this out to another company and there was nothing they would do for me. Now I start the nightmare process of dealing with Asurion. Filed a claim online around 2:00PM and even though I have a very common phone and I’m in Jacksonville, FL, a large town they wouldn’t do same day. Interesting fact that almost no one gets same day, just part of there scam. I had to leave work early to be home to receive my phone. What I got was a scuffed up phone with the screen starting to separate from the phone. After setting it up, because I had no other phone to use I came into more problems. It took about six hours for my phone to be able to make a call. The battery heath showed 90% and most apps would crash or not work. So I called and the guy was nice and sent me another phone, again not same day. So I left work early again the next day to receive my replacement phone replacement. This one either had a deep scratch or a crack and it just looked horrible... I just don’t know what they are doing or if they QA there devices. So I called again and this time I was treated like a criminal. One lady was nice but the other was absolutely horrible but I won’t go into details. They first tried to tell me I had to have the next phone go to a different address but I just moved to this town so have literally no one here I know and also Covid is going on so it’s not like I’m out meeting people. It took 15 minutes for the lady to understand that. Side not she told me “it’s our policy” At least four times then went against the policy she just told me each time, so she was just lying or trying to manipulate me. Then they had me sign some form and without my approval she processed the order... after that she said if this phone is bad it’s on me and they won’t replace it. This is just Beyond bad and I can’t believe that’s there “policy”. So all they have to do is send three bad phones to you and then they can run off with your money. So I was a adamant that they send me a brand new phone to insure I don’t get left hung out to dry but she refused to check and told me “you get what get. Talk about service... So what did I get today in the mail, another refurbished phone that already isn’t running right and I think their motto must be packaged with hate because it looked like it was just thrown in the box, the screen place they put on to protect the screen was only covering half of the front screen on the phone. Also the phone was on when I opened the package.
So with all of that, I will say I am beyond unhappy with a Asurion but also unhappy with Verizon. I have been a customer with them since 2001 but that might be coming to a end very soon. The fact that Verizon offers the insurance and I pay Verizon for the insurance in my eyes makes it a Verizon product. If every other iPhone the sold was bad I’m almost positive Verizon would stop selling iPhone at there stores. If you google Asurion you will see countless horror stories, and I mean a lot but Verizon still offers this service... now I’m stuck with a replacement phone that is worse then my original phone, I’ve had to take 8 hours in total of my vacation time, I can’t even tell you how much money I have payed in monthly fees for insurance since I have always had it, and then I am out $259 for the deductible. I get that Asurion I guess has a monopoly on the cell phone insurance game so I would be stuck with them with most of the major carriers. I just can’t keep giving my business to a company, (Verizon) that will bill me, take my money, but not make sure that I am not getting ripped off. I am going to go check and see what AT&T or sprint is offering right after this.
