Put Phone in Freezer???

Every time I have powered down my phone I have been unable to restart it without putting it in the freezer for a few minutes. This bizarre little workaround has worked, without fail, including recently at an airport in Minnesota where I had to make due with a snowbank. While the workaround is nice, I sure would like to know what's up and if this is something that can be fixed. After all, I might like to travel to warm climates one day.

OK, I'm going to assume you're not pulling our leg (this is bazaar) ... If the phone won't boot up under normal circumstances, i would take it to Verizon and let them see the problem first hand -- possibly replace the Battery or the phone...

It sounds to me like you have connection that is bad and when the phone heats up, the expanding metal breaks the curcuit. I'd take it back and swap for anothet one.

This sounds like the workaround to an issue with the DX os upgrade. I thought a fix had been released OTA so, if you're still having the problem, take it to the store (or call tech support), don't mention the freezer, and try to get a new one. They will most likely have you do a soft and hard reset, which won't help, but you should be able to get a refurb that works properly.

im going to pretend im not reading this but i am take that phone back Now an get another new one when u sad u had to pute it in the some snow if a inkling of that snow would've breached that battery cover an got to the moisture tag your warrenty would be Voided an you would be with no phone right now.!

i need a tylanol

also when pute it in the freezer an it warms up to the room temp there will some moisture in there an electronics an moisture dont mix to good!

Thats exactly what I was thinking but recently a number of users have been doing the freezer ideal for a while.... It is a old trick for a pc hard drive in a over heating issue but this is dangerous if not done correctly. Why chance it?

Wildman i added a little more to that im still scratchin my head i'd go out side holler but its to cold! :smileywink: i dont mean to be go over board on this its just these phones cost so much an one little mistake it hard to come up with $600.00 for a new phone

I won't put much stock in this claim.

Hard drive in freezer trick... it might be more physical/mechanical related problem than electronic.

Wasn't just pulling it out of thin air, it's a conclusion that several users verified to work. May not be the best for the phone but, desperate times call for desperate measures.
