Phone not seeing SD card

My phone is not recognizing my SD card.  I opened the back and did verify that the SD is installed correctly.  Do you have to format it or turn on a setting somewhere?

Let's uninstall and reinstall the sd card. Here are the steps.

 

To remove the sd card:

From the home screen, select Applications.

Select Settings.

Select SD card & phone storage.

Select Unmount SD card.

Press and hold the Power button.

Select Power off.

Remove the battery cover.

Remove the memory card as shown. (click the link below to see the correct way to remove the sd card)

Replace the battery cover.

 

To reinstall the sd card:

Press and hold the Power button.

Select Power off.

Remove the battery cover.

With the gold contacts facing down, insert the memory card as shown.(click the link below to see the correct way to install the sd card)

Replace the battery cover.
