discontinuing the droid!!!!

Ok after over two weeks I finally found a sane person at verizon.

I am getting another droid with a witten promise that if it goes bad I will get a free upgrade!!!

I am not happy on how long it took but at least it is over.

Already got the written promise in the form of a text message that I sent to a friends phone and e mailed it to myself and a friend as well as locking it in the phone.

I am also going to have the store manager send it to my new phone so I will have it if I need it.

Good luch to all my fellow droid owners I think we are going to need it!!!

i feel ya when i was with sprint they stopped making the hero and lost support and tried sending me a $200 phone, get them for what you deserve

they are discontinued the motorola droid 1 yes; but launching the motorola droid 2 end of august.

actually you cant still order the motorola droid 1, they have no been discountiuned and not sure they will be discontiuned. due to we still carry the storm 1; and they came out with a storm 2.

The problem is the droid is a defective product and Verizon is replacing them with inferior products. That are no where near the cost or abillty that the moto droid was advertised to be.

I am on my 3rd one now and it is defective. I know of several more moto droid customers that have had the same problems. Motorola or Verizon will not step up and make it right they expect their customers to acept a cheaper inferior phone!!!!

I will not have it I will not be treated as mindless livestock while paying them my hard earned money!!!

I know original Motorola Droid will be discontinued like the HTC Eris. All cell phones get discontinued after being on a provider usually for spending quite some time on the network. When the newer phones start coming out the older phones go out. In with new and out with the old.

Then you need to talk to Motorola as when I did they told me the droid was discontinued. If you work for Verizon you should know this as it only took one phone call for me to find out about it. Also they Motorola confirmed that they would not be updating the droid past 2.2.

Seems your customers know more than you do.

As far as ordering one verizon can't even replace all the droids that are defective with a droid. There are post on this very fourm that says so.

Verizon is a farce and only cares about money.

i have the moto droid and i know alot ot people who have and have no problem with it. do remember that when you get a replace ment phone they are to warn you that that phone may have problems as well, because it is a reconstructed phone. they replacement phones are NOT brand new phones they are refurbished. and verizon is correcting the problem and working on the phones as well. some people dont realize that verizon is working on the problems. i feel as if with your problem its not verizon its the people/store you are dealing with in the matter.

they are not discontinuing the droid or the eris. as you said if you work for verizon you should know more than your customers. you can still get the moto droid as well as the eris. idk where your getting your information from but it is wrong. they are just coming out with newer better phones. as every company does, becasuse people always want the new better thing.

I am dealing with customer service not a store. The phone has not even been out a year and already discontinued? WHY? Because of so many failures.

I keep hearing there are no problems with the droid from verizon however on the 5 social sites I have posted my problem on only one person that has a moto droid has defended it! The other 75 has affirmed they are on their 2od or 3rd droid!!!

So I am not buying the excuse of there is no problem with the droid!!!

I've read several recent posts that Asurion will replace the Droid with either the Droid Incredible or the Droid X as soon as the supply becomes available. It could be months down the line though. But, it's a step in the right direction I suppose. I sure as heck do not want a referbished Droid or an LG Ally should my Droid stop working!! I understand your anger & frustration.

I have to say that my Droid has been pretty much flawless for the ~7months I've had it so far along with everyone that I personally know that has one. Granted mine was only stock for about 2 weeks so I wasn't sitting around and waiting on Verizon/Motorola/Google to improve software related issues with an update. I don't really think there's a hardware issue. Yes you may get a lemon here or there but I'm going with most issues being user related from my observations on the real android forums. That'll ruffle a lot of feathers but the problems are usually that the user expects the phone to behave a certain way based on a previous device. With an open market, issues also arise with apps misbehaving and improper use of task killers. And some people just aren't ready for an OS like Android. It's so much about money money money these days that Verizon markets the crap out of these phones and puts them in the hands of people who don't really need them.

I am glad you have had good luck however for every story of good service for the droid there a many more that has had problems. On here there are many that are on there 2od 3rd or 4th droid.

Each time I have had troble with my phone I went through a tech supports test and updates each time they decided the phone had hardwear trouble not softwear. Including this time.

So your statement that people are not using them correctly just doesn't hold water. I personally don't download a bunch of apps and don't have a app killer at all.

I am versed well in computers and OS it really is not that hard to do.

As I said I had to prove to tech support that I had a bad phone each time so I would think eveyone would have to do the same.

There is a definite flaw to your philosophy, in that happy, satisfied customers don't take to the internet, blogs, chat rooms and forums to say how pleased they are with their product. Only the whining bitchy ones who have bad luck or just can't comprehend the device do. unfortunately a device as advanced as this and the many more coming out takes a lot of understanding. Also unfortunately the ones who don't understand them and how they are going to work view them as defective, and Verizon is not going to call you an idiot, but I can. They will replace your phone just to satisfy you, not because it needs it. After a few times they need to get you off that phone because you obviously don't understand. That's why they offer a different model. I mean you have yet to describe a single problem you actually had with your phones even after being asked.

your sampling of what 75 Moto Droid users is quite small considering the amount of devices that have been sold and continue to be sold. There just people like you trying to bring down Verizon because you don't understand how a phone or service is supposed to work. Yes I blame Verizon for this mistake, in there quest to bring the most advanced technology to their customers via phones, network, and services they have sold many phones to users who can't handle them. But this is only a problem if your the select few that stare blankly at their phones for hours waiting for an unusual hesitation or screen flicker and screem hardware malfunction, inferior device and whatnot, go back to your flip phone.

Wow dude you must have done something **bleep**ty in your life for god to have hated you this much to give you three defective droids, cause hell man im a droid user so is my wife sister mom dad and three friends we've been droid users and i do mean moto droid since the begining and none of us have had any problems with our phones. Droid does and so does V.erizon

Sir I am sure God has nothing to do with it I had a Motorola Razor that was a great phone worked for many years and I was very happy with it. That was with Alltel before verizon bought them out and messed up a great company.

I really hate to change phones as I would much rather have a good product to start with. I am glad you have had good luck however there are many that have not.

If the phone worked I would not be on here trying to get some help i would just be using it.

In my last example the le mans had problems not all the cars were bad but enough of them were and GM quit selling them. I had one customer that loved her le mans. So just because you are not having problems doesn't mean the product is not defective.

I am on my 4th... a little upset, but what are you going to do? They keep sending me back broken ones... they have [me in a bad situation] and I can't do anything but send it back every 2 months.

I hear you man!!! Funny the time frame for my replacements is 2 months as well. I think the new pitch line should be droid does for two months after that your onw your own!!!.....lol

I can guarantee that you will find these complaints for each cell company. I know I left Sprint because they were 10 times worse than this.

The only reason they can claim better customer service is because of their internal customer service surveys. I gave them a 0 every time I could.

ATT is not better either. They dropped me 3 years ago because I roamed more than 20 % of the time. They will not replace a phone for anything.

I understand your frustration and I am still going through phones as well... atleast they have said they will continue to replace... Sprint told me to deal with it.. even after a known issue.

well I can tell you I won't be with verizon much longer that is for sure!!!! Done with them after this!!!!

Try tmobile if you can... they have a tiny map, but I hear they love their customers...Sprint is horrible, and ATT locks down all their phones....

I was just reading where some are on their 8th to 9th droid yet verizon and motorola says there is no problems with the droid. At the same time they are retooling and making a droid 2!!!

Soooooo if there is not a problem why would they spend millions on bringing out another phone?

Both companies are just doing the CYA thing and sawing of the branch they put their customers on!!!

I have contacted the BBB the PSC and the FCC. Seems they have had a fair share of complaints from others also.

I know there are more than one class action suits against both companies. I am seeing now what it takes to get in on one of them.

They do usually wait a year though.. it is basically the same phone (aside from processor and keyboard).

Just warning you mjyawn... non of these companies will do it right... atleast verizon is giving you a phone... you being angry makes them less likely to give you a new phone... be courteous and explain your problem and show them examples of other people with the same issues.

They will eventually cave or kick you off the plan... if the phone keeps messing up keep taking it in. Two months isn't that inconvienent.

wow... for someone who seems to know phones, you think you'd have picked another option instead of letting them give you a Droid over and over. No offense but you've wasted so much time blasting Verizon and Motorola...you have a choice, you can switch to ATT or TMobile or any other provider out there. The rest of us have had better experiences with Verizon than the others, so we choose the lesser of the evils.

Personally, my original droid stopped working about a month after I got it and customer/tech support worked with me and then sent me a refurb the next day when we couldn't troubleshoot. Haven't had a problem since and that was back in Feb.

Usually providers do yes. However sometimes cell providers will cut a dervice within a few months if it totally bombs. Take a look at the KIN devices. There was also the Samsung Rogue which I believe didn't last a year and was cut short

Meanwhile we purchased the phone and have problems with the phone not the "people/store". The problem is with the phones not anything else. I agree this phone is garbage. i spend more time babysitting it than using it but of course verizon says its fine.

how can you decide how much time is appropriate to spend? Why are we even spending any time on this problem. Its verizons problem but of course they wont fix it due to greed. I feel very bad for all the people that have been duped by this "smart" product and verizons inability to sell a reliable product. All the time spent with your friends and family, instead your forced to figure out their problems or throw away money. They have us in a very bad position and its a shame we are even concerned about this.

great question. if i had a phone without problems then i wouldn't "complain". if others were as honest about the problems associated with this phone I would have NEVER purchased. so when you refer to complain your actually indicating my ability to be honest with my fellow members. give it a shot - honesty is great. why are so many ppl trying to fix verizons problems, when accoding to verizon there are no problems. sorry to say this but focus on your problems as you seem to have a few. if you didnt you wouldnt be here
