2.2 stops wifi working

Just found out that the 2.2 Upgrade stops wifi from obtaining IP address from even open/unsecured networks. Verizon guy tells me the only solution MAYBE a hard reset!!

This is getting worse,

Here is the list of things that I know of so far that 2.2 does to your phone:

1 - Deletes all pop3 e-mails

2 - Stops wifi from connecting to any network

3 - Runs unnecessary apps in the background & drains the battery much faster that before

number 3 is the only one that happens to the masses, thats just something to deal with. the other two are only happening to certain numbers of people, im only experiencing the last one, other than that my upgrade to 2.2 has been perfect.

The hard reset should resolve this problem for you. The only thing you will lose is your applications since your contacts are automatically backed up. The steps for performing the reset are listed below:

Performing a factory reset via settings

The most convenient way to do a factory reset is via the phone settings.

Press HOME

> MENU,

then tap Settings.

Scroll down the screen,

and then tap Privacy

> Factory data reset.

On the Factory data reset screen,

tap Reset phone,

and then tap Erase everything.

I would warn, a factory reset is NOT a cure all. I did the hard reset, when I reactivated my Incredible all the pertinent info such as phone number and MIN and other settings requiring a phone number were given a 4 digit number. And now I have no 3G or any data connection after doing so.
