Droid X Touch Screen No Response

I'm having a touch screen issue with my Droid X. When the phone comes out of sleep (either by power button or phone call) my touch screen will not work. I can't unlock the phone or answer calls. The only way to get the screen to respond is to keep putting it to sleep and waking it up with the power button until the screen responds. This is happening about 50% or more of the time. Is anyone else experiencing this same issue?

Try to perform a soft reset of your device. A soft reset is the most useful tool for resolving a variety of issues. In most cases, a soft reset will not affect data on the device, unless the battery is very low. Follow the directions below.

Press and hold the Power button
Touch Power off.
Press and hold the Power buttonto power on the device.

I recently got my Droid X and it came with 2.2 on it. I have done a factory reset multiple times, and I have done soft resets as well. I have removed all of the widgets, and mine is still doing this same thing. I already replaced my Droid X once from a damaged screen, is this a software or hardware issue?

KKDV who did you get your X from? VZW flat out said "NO" about shipping the X w 2.2 preinstalled. You say you replaced the X already so I can only guess you received a "like new" X. I'm surprised VZW didn't roll back the update before sending out a LIke NEW.

As for this replacement phone...you've done all the steps that usually help and it would be condescending for anyone to tell you to do a factory reset or hard re-boot again. I would say send it back for replacement

My wife and I just received 2 new identical Droid X phones - ordered and received at the same time.

The touch screen on her phone does not respond after the phone goes to sleep as described above.

I've tried the "soft reset" (described above) and am unable to complete the "Power off" process because the touch screen does not respond after the phone goes to sleep.

I've had to hard reset the phone by removing the battery.

After turning the phone back on it works fine until the phone goes to sleep. Then the touch screen does not respond and I have to perform a hard reset.

Is there some setting I should adjust, or should I just return her phone?

I have had no issues with my phone so far.

A corrupt application on the phone maybe causing this problem. A factory reset may be needed.

Factory Reset option 2 - Warning this will reset device back to original factory settings.

Turn off the phone
Press Power + Home at the same time
1. User may also press and hold Power + Home + Volume Down until display shows android triage screen
You should see "!" in a triangle with Android guy
Press the search hardkey - this will unhide the menu and show the following options
1. Reboot system Now
2. Apply sdcard:update.zip
3. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
4. Wipe Cache Partition
Use VOL Down key to scroll down to "Wipe Data/Factory Reset", press camera key to select option and wipe device.
