notification of new voicemail

My old phone gave me a "beep" when I had a new voicemail.  It would continue to beep (maybe every 5 minutes or so) until I retrieved the message.

 

Is there a way to set the Droid X to do something like this?  I don't always remember to check the top info bar, where there is an icon telling me I have a message.

Check out the VM settings under "call settings" under the settings app in the app drawer. I use Google Voice for my VM service so sorry I can't be more helpful. Good luck!
