A few things I would like to know:

 

1.  How to disable/REMOVE apps from running in the background..i.e. Backup Assistant?

 

2.  I would like to set an .mp3 as a text tone, a different .mp3 for an email tone...how do I get this to work?

 

3.  How to continue to receive email notifications from FACEBOOK?  I'd like to simply reply to an email I receive from Facebook and not have to deal with the app running all the time and not receiving an email..

There is no way to disable the applications. However with the 2.2 upgrade it only runs what you are using to prevent overuse of the battery.

• You will need to enable the settings in your messaging folder
• Menu
• Settings 
• Accounts
• Choose Email Account
• Menu
• Message Settings
• Notification
• Choose notification

• You will need to add the account to your device
• Menu
• Settings
• Accounts
• Menu
• Add Account
• Choose Facebook
• Enter information
• Now submit
• Once you have done this you will receive notifications from the account and not the application
