BB Storm 9530 - Screen Buttons Not Responsive

Storm just out of warranty - suddenly screen stopped responding - can't relate to any specific event. Display still functions, but buttons do not light or respond to touch. Only "hardware" buttons still operate. Moisture not an issue. Tried battery pull, also leaving battery out for several days (suggestion on BB forum). Also updated OS (5.0.0.328). No change. Anyone else having, or had, this problem?

Try and back it up using desktop disc that came with phone. Then wipe phone and install OS 5.0.0.419 from Crackberry. I have been running it since Jan. and no problems, .328 has problems. You must remove the Vendor file before installing. If you do not know what I am talking about read about hybrid installs. This .419 was released by BB but not VZW.

Next time if you get it up and running, be sure to wait until others report the success or failure of an OS before installing. I have written RIM about how they need to FIRE their OS software writers because the Storm is not the only BB phone that has had OS releases that do not work as they are suppose too!

Thanks LCromwell - I'll give it a shot. I've seen too many threads about this issue or something similar to think this is a "one off" problem. Be nice if BB ran their experiments in R&D instead of with the customer. VZW ain't much help either.
