Complaint Forum Proposal

I propose to Verizon that they start a forum exclusively for complainers and their complaints.

That way, those of us who are happy with what we have and made the choice to purchase can continue on helping each other with positive words and wisdom about the phones we own and have questions about.

Does anyone else agree?

Maybe they could start that forum today.

I would love to see a complaint/nag free HELP/INFO forum on here someday.

While I would love this, it won't happen. That would mean all the mods would probably spend thier time there, it would give the notion to people that that's the "solution" forum to look for all their answers, and it would probably start some hardcore trolling.

Well, they can add auto language filters and have a mod on there 24/7.

I don't think people would look at it as the "solution" forum, because those of us who are smart just know it's for nagative Nancies that lead miserable, sad and negative lives.

It's like building a playground for children, they're not mature enough to play with big toys, so you give them something to distract them while the adults talk about real life.

Indeed, that is probably true. I've just been skipping over the ones who are acting "ignorant" and only helping the sincere ones. People will get a whole lot more help and satisfaction from Verizon, if they werent so darn hateful, demanding, and threatening.

I see your point Mike, but I'm sure some sort of an adjustment to their proceedure could be made. And you have to admit, it'd sure be nice to not scroll through a ton of "My Eris doesn't open my garage door and sccop the poop in the yard and the sales person said it would" posts. Time could actually be spent discussing the handsets that we have and answering user's questions about those handsets.

I'm just sayin'. It'd be nice. Smiley Happy

In general, complaints go something like this:

"I am unhappy about x. If Verizon doesn't fix x, I'm leaving!"

The vast majority of the complaint posts are not really supposed to be here, because the complainer is trying to convey a message to/get a response from Verizon directly. This is a peer-to-peer forum.

If you give them a section of their own, they will assume that this is the appropriate place to voice concerns to Verizon, and that Verizon reps will be responding to their complaint. This will lead to more complaints, both because their desire to post grumblings has been validated (in their eyes) and because Verizon "isn't listening" to them.

It doesn't matter how big of a peer-to-peer banner you put at the top, people will ignore it.

While I would love to see boards full of help and free of whining, I don't think it's going to happen.

I get where you're coming from, but what it would do is allow us, who don't complain and don't want to read it, to tell them to go elsewhere.

Yes, complaints may increase, but they will be able to be in one section. It would also increase the use of the forum and support area, which Verizon I'm sure would be pleased to know that they are getting lots of publicity.

There's no way to stop people from complaining, but giving them a specific place to do it will allow them to have an outlet and allow others of a more positive nature to steer clear.

It's like a detox center.

I'm not saying it will cure the forum or provide an ultimate solution, but it would be nice to tell people where to go when they start complaining.

Just because it's in on section it doesn't make it any less ugly. {please keep it relevant}

I agree, giving people an outlet is good. Giving people an "Everything goes here" section isn't. It's hard to structure a "Complaint Area" because when someone is upset they don't see the line of inappropriate and appropriate. They just see what they want.

And I think that you can agree, with the time that you've been on here, that it'll be intensely hard to speak reason (well, reason without a waspish attitude ) with a 'positive nature'.

I agree with somegirl completely. Though I do agree with you too. Sometimes coming on to this Android forum (and believe me, I've been on here since day one), for it to only be polluted with repatative threads sucks. Nothing I can do about it.

Seriously though, with all the work we do on here you'd think we'd be getting paid or something.

Haha! Yeah, you'd think we'd get paid. Since I see more replies from a few of us than I've ever seen by a Mod or Admin.

It's crazy.

And the Complaint Forum is just a proposal. Maybe more of a dream. And it would need a lot more discussion and planning by the forum Admins and Mods.

Maybe someday people will just be happy and complain a little less, but until then I'll keep dreaming.

So where do those of us who are being hosed by FIOS go to complain?

Where do we go to regale those who aren't happy with the outrageous prices being charged by FIOS about the fact that Cablevision, crooks that THEY are, are now sending people to my DOOR to try and get me BACK to Cablevision, to the tune of ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS a month for EVERYTHING I HAVE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool deal, huh? Just one problem. The guy had me, but then, being the crooks that they are, asked for the FIRST MONTH'S payment in advance. Well, that brought up all the foul bile that Cablevision has built up in my endocrinological system for the past 28 years when they were a fascist monopoly in these here environs and I kicked him to the curb.

By the way, when their disconnect guy called, he told me that the owner of Verizon was just as unethical and crooked as the Dolans. No doubt, but since there is price fixing going on between ALL of the cable companies, what is the poor schmuck consumer to do?

So, where is the disgruntled hosed consumer supposed to go to voice these complaints about the crooked as Cablevision FIOS? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?????????????????????????????????????

Yes, sure! But they're probably afraid that a dedicated space for something like that would overload their crappy system.

I have been having problems for months and would like to advise people of Verizon's lack of concern. Telling us Corp. does not want to hear it and potential customers won't have access to the lack of concern, doesn't make sense. Can you direct me to a place where I can tell my experience with Verizon? I wish I had the opportunity to hear of other disaster stories other than those from members of my 3 Computer User Groups.

Evidently, you “helpers” do not understand the ultimate frustration of those of us who have spent countless hours on the phone, on the Internet, at Verizon Stores, etc. before posting a complaint.

Sorry to sound so rude but, at 71 years old, I don't have that many years left to continue looking for a solution to my situation and I really hoped this forum could help.

Well carolefedup, I am 69 1/2 years old, and I come here to try to help people who are having problems. I have had FiOS TV and internet for 5 years and am a very satisfied user. Now, as of this reply, you have made 3 posts, and as far as i can see you have not identified one single problem; how do you expect anybody to help you here at the forums if you do not tell us what the problems are? Telling the phone folks, or telling the store folks, does not give us a clue as to what your issues are. These forums are users helping users, so you need to tell us. There are some really great volunteers who come here to try to help if you will give them a chance.

So, do you really want help, or do you just want to let others know how frustrated you are? if the latter, just say so, and I suspect you will not get much if any help (but you will probably get some more people to say "me too", which doesn't do anything useful). But if it is the former:

1) Find the correct forum for the topic you wish to ask for help with.

2) preferrably do a search in that forum using keywords to see if your problem/issue has already been handled (not a requirement, but might get you an answer more quickly).

3) Post a question (a real question, not just saying how bad something is). Provide as much detail as you can, be as specific as you can.

4) Sit back and hopefully you will get a reasonably quick answer.

I agree. I have had nothing but issues as a 10 + year customer with verizon. There are times you call into the verizon service hotline, and it is not accepting calls at that time and you are asked to call back. Your attempt is then not recorded. You are at the mercy of their agents to make notes of your phone calls when you do get through and if the representitive doesn't make the appropriate notes, you can still be accountable for services that you followed procedure to disconnect or change service. As I have attempted to do, I have now invested 6+ hours to the verizon customer service dept. to no avail. It is obvious that Verizon does not respect or value their customers.

Again, I apologize for being so rude. It was suggested, by a friend, to visit your site for help and it was my last resort.

As per your suggestion, this is my problem. . .

It sometimes takes me 15 or more minutes to connect to Verizon. I get all kinds of message like “There is too much activity on the line. Try again later.” There also are various Error messages. I am getting timed out, continually. I have been told, by different Verizon people from Tech Support to Billing that I have to upgrade. I have been told FIOS lines are being installed and this may cut me off, on occasion. (For over six months?) I am told that because I live in an area with a huge hospital complex and the accompanying business, they get priority and, when the lines get overloaded, businesses prevail and they must cut me off. I have been told the problem occurs because I use a MAC. I have been told none of these excuses are valid and it’s a problem with Firefox and Safari.

My husband uses MobileMe through Verizon and, once connected, he can be on the computer for hours and he is never timed out. I have never been timed out when using Gmail. I really don’t spend that much time on the computer for correspondence but, when replying to email with my Verizon.net address

Can you or one of the other helpers tell me what I must do so I am not continuously “Timed Out”?

(I have had to re-write this reply in Word as Verizon has timed me out in the short time it took me to read your post and spend a few minutes to answer it. The entire reply was wiped out and I had to start from scratch. Can you understand how frustrating this is?)

Well, I took Justin's advice and zeroed in on a Forum that addressed my situation and there is no solution to the "Timed Out" problem with Verizon. Sorry I wasted your time. I will be sending a Gmail address to all my Verizon people, mostly Mac friends as this seems to be the only option to being cut off. Until I switch back to Comcast, I will have to put up with having to keep trying to connect with Verizon until a line is open. I still would like to see a Forum where people can actually count on Verizon Tech Support people to read their problems and come up with solutions. All you Verizon supporters must be real proud that customers with problems have to resort to a Forum because, unlike Comcast, there is no such thing as Verizon "Customer Relations".

If they made a complaint only forum you would see no one posting in this forum.

But seriously why do you have something wrong with people complaining? OP mentions "happy with what I chose"

Well listen here I CHOSE ALLTELL and was FORCED to use verizon! So great that you chose verizon's overpriced service that comes with horrible customer service but I did not and I was not given the opportunity to cancel my service.

Secondly, great for you that you have not had issues with customer service but those of us that have should not be shunned by the likes of you because we are expressing our disatisfaction with the pathetic customer service verizon has.

If you have a complaint they basically tell you "you signed a contract and in the fine print it says we can screw you" No matter if it is their fault you are having problems or not!

Now wait a minute, let's read back in the first two pages.. yes, that's it, good. Now we're ready.

Make a "complaint" forum, but call it something else, like "Off-Topic", or "Not Specified". Do not think of it as a place for random frustrated people to complain, but a way we can better organize our other forum sections. It would be great if all that clutter was moved elsewhere and the patient forum runners could talk amongst each other; intelligently. Most of you who are against this separate section talk about it like we are punishing people. As far I see it, and many others locally, this is a great way to unclog our forums, and bring civility back into the matter. From the lighthouse, I see much greater pros than cons.

The best way to complain is to drop your service and find another provider. Then those who stay can use this forum for help! I have learned so much from just reading the forum. Most of my problems get solved right here!!! Smiley Happy
