Phone not rebooting for update

I saw the same thing over and over.. I ended up following advice from xda-developers and using the Google SDK and adb to copy an edited build.prof file over top of the existing one. There's a string in there about what version you're running that updates are checked against. If you set that number to the correct version number (264707), the update prompts stop.

Yeah but what if you want the update.

You could do a master reset. But be sure to save your contacts, docs, pix and such to your SD Card (then remove it) or PC prior to doing so. I believe you would get the newest updates then.

Why are you using advanced task killer on an Incredible non-the-less!!! you are crazy!!! dont take it personal but I am curious. Why do YOU think you should use a task killer on this phone?

As far your problem goes. Master Reset. Verify you have nothing on the phone of yours other than whats on the SD card. if you have apps Master Reset again. Once everything is off DO NOT login to your google account.

immediately go to menu > settings > about phone > and try to do your update

otherwise its time for a replacement if you cant get it to go

You may want to remove your phone number from your device description. All of us can see it.

MAster Reset, is this the same as Factor reset. Have tried that.

Am using advance task killer to conserve battery, there are like 10 things that run in the background even if you havent opened them, why arent you using it ?

Are you looking for the update that added the Verizon Market place, or Froyo 2.2.1?? If the latter, it will come automatically from Google. This update basically changes how the marketplace looks. In addition if you buy an app you only have 15 minutes to request a refund, down from 24 hours. (BAD MOVE) 3 or 4 hours, ok.....15 minutes, is just a money grab. IMO

Also when you click ok to update, are you atempting cia the 3G connection or WiFi?

Was a manual update ever released, the way froyo was.. using the update.zip method?

Yes you can manually update from a update.zip however that is for advanced users that know what they are doing.

I would not recommend that unless you have already rooted your phone and know what youre doing.

No manual update was released by Verizon officially.

Not yet. Most of the November update was nothing more than more apps that I will not use.

do you have the update.zip, already rooted and have since unrooted because I was not using a custom rom or tether (used to but have since gone back to stock)>
