How do I put my name on the opening wall paper? "This phone belongs to:" for the life of me I cannot figure it out... it's gotta be simple...

Do you have an antivirus program running or another program you downloaded that is having that to show up? If so, you will just go into that program and go to Settings-Remote Management-Lost Message.

I had my name on homescreen b4 factory reset and 2.2 update but can't remember how I did it??
If all else fails, print a sheet of paper on your computer that has what you want to be on your home screen. Take a closeup picture of it with your phone and then set that photo as your homescreen wallpaper.
There used to be a "banner" section in Settings - Display. However, for some odd reason, it isn't there any more. If you want your name on the home page, about the only way I see you can do it is to get a scratchpad apps and go that route.
