Silence alerts? Raise volume of incoming call voices? Etc.

ARGH!  I am not enchanted with my Droid X as my friends are with their I Phones.  Are you?  Questions:

 

Is it truly impossible to totally silence incoming alerts? The only sound I want is the phone ringing with a live caller. I have put alerts on vibrate, but would like total silence and no vibes with every junk mail!!!

 

The incoming voices on live calls are not loud enough and I have it at Max.

 

Is it true that I can return the whole thing within 30 days of activation and flee to iphone?

I know the silent option has changed with the droid now that 2.2 is out, i dont know about the X but try this.  Each app such as mail or messaging has its own sounds settiings, if you go to the app you want to change and then setting of that app you can change the notification sound or set it to silent. 

 

To remove the Vibrate option on the Droid.  Go to setting, Then Sound, Then Vibrate.  Then you should have several options. Always, Never, Only in Silent Mode and only when not in Silent mode.

 

Again this is for my Droid but hope this helps. 

 

Come On Verizon, Google and Motorola.  Why did you take silent mode away from using the Volume down button...
