gmail account login failed

when i got the droid 2 and setup the gmail account., had no problems then in 2 weeks i started getting a login failure and the account has been suspeneded. i've tried numerous times to try and walk through the template to try and get the account reregistered back to me, but it's still no go.

 

i'm guessing that it got hacked and they closed it.

 

my question is how can i get a new account assigned to the droid or do i have to wipe it and start over. if i have to start over how can i, or is there a way i can download the contact list to the memory card

unfortunately many applications require the use of your gmail account. if you go under settings>accounts>click on your gmail and try to remove the account it will tell you this and that you have to do a factory direct reset in order to remove that account. be warned it will remove everyting else. but once you do a reset it will walk you thru the steps on how to set up your accounts again and a new gmail.

 

 when you have an issue like this that can be resolved any other way this fixes it however i would use it as a last resort as a factory direct reset erases everything even backed up information on your sd card because everything is reset to the way when you first bought it out of the store. if you think this will work for you here is the quickest and easiet way i have found to do it:

 

turn droid 2 off

open keyboard and press x while holding the power button

device will power on

keep holding until a yello triangle appears

press the magnifying glass on your keyboard

use the volume button to select wipe data/ factory reset

use camera key to confirm

tap wipe data/factory reset

then ok

highlight reboot system now

then ok
