i've seen posts (usually regarding the battery getting hot or battery issues in general) where people have stated their phone's temperature. i assumed they had some type of app that did that???

Batterylife app. Works and looks great.

I was thinking of a thermistor to measure room temperature, not the device temperature. Weather apps are great, but they are averages over the area. It would be nice to go into the park and tweet/fb not only my location, but also the current temp. Also, think about the meteorological benefits of wide spread temperature samples.

Forget a thermometer, I was hoping for a flux capacitor.

Flux capacitors require too much feeding. Besides, they are only used by old crazy white-haired men. On the other hand, a built in keg...... oh well, back to reality.
