Asurion Is It Safe?

I have had the droid on insurance. I need to get it replaced because of a faulty USB charger but I am afraid Asurion will force me to get a less then capable device as a replacement, how do I know what device they will send? I'd hate to seem like a thief and say I need a replacement and then change my mind when they offer a worse device then what I paid for....

Assurion will give you exactly what you have insured, if not they will upgrade you. They will never give you something less.

just got my droid replaced through them, its the same high quality droid as before, and most of my apps were reinstalled also

Incorrect. During the shortage a few months ago, they were offering the Ally or Eris as a replacement option. Don't know if anyone was actually shipped those but that's what some were offered. They did start shipping Droid 2's a limited number of people as replacements though. And they should be able to tell you what is being sent over the phone as long as it's in stock.

Pjnc. It will be a refurbished phone but you will receive the same phone you have insured. If there was a shortage of refurbished phones and you couldn't wait they would or will ask you if you want another phone as a replacement and give a few perks to go along with it if it is a phone of less value.

So far I have not had to use them for my Droid 1, but on phones in the past they have done right. I also have talked with three asurion reps since I have had the phone and they have told me the same thing, one even called me after I wrote an email to them about it. They will replace it with what you have insured or make up the difference.

Why are you filing an insurance claim for a faulty USB port? Isnt that covered under warranty?

If it is the charger that is damaged Insurance will not cover it. Besides why would you pay a $100 deductible for a $20 charger. If the USB port was broken by a non-moto charger it won't be covered by warranty.
