How do you delete the text messages on the Contacts: History page?

Presently, you can't. Even though you can delete the messages, you can't delete those same messages from the Contact Histories. Crazy, huh. That is the only thing that makes me wonder whom at Moto thought that was a good idea.

I have read somewhere that this issue will be addressed in the long-awaited, painfully-delayed, angst-causing 2.2 update.
