Why can't I take pictures without my SD card installed?

The reason is the lack of memory on the phone itself. It saves that memory for apps, phone numbers and configurations.
This is why the phone shipped with an SD card. It gave the customers an option of upgrading and changing, instead of limiting them to a certain amount of memory.
If you need another SD card I woulld suggest ebay or amazon.
