Alarm Clock

Just want to pass on something I learned the hard way. I use the alarm clock almost daily. After I set it for a Mon to Fri time, I replaced it in the holster. Luckily I was alert Monday and Tuesday and really didn't need the alarm. Wednesday, I placed the Droid X on the table. When it was time for the alarm to go off...it did...nice and loud too. Then I realized that you can stop the ringer by placing the phone on it's front side. I guess the same thing happens when you place it in the holster. I experimented around and now know that when I want the alarm to go off...leave it face up on the table.

I have been using the Alarm for a few weeks now. At night, I put the X in the docking station so that it will charge during the night - alarm is set, and so I can see the time when I wake up and wonder what time it is. :smileytongue: It usually takes 10 to 20 minutes after it initially goes off for me to FINALLY hear it. I didn't need the alarm last week, so just left the phone in the living room (undocked) and could swear the alarm was loud enough I could hear from the other side of the house - made no sense. But, maybe this is what you are saying? Not sure what the 'holster' is.

Anyone: Is the idea not to use the dock to charge during the night if you are using the alarm? Is it just me, or does that not make any sense?? Why would the alarms/ringers be nearly silenced when in the docking station?

First, when I said the holster, I meant the protective carbon casing. When you place the phone into the "holding part" or the part with the clip, it's face in. As for the dock, I have no idea why it should muffle the sound since the face of the Droid is visible. It may well be, but I'm not sure, that because it is also charging, the sound becomes muffled. Out of curiosity, the dock is supposed to be a holding device so that you can use multimedia. Have you tried playing tunes? If so, are they soft as well? I had to return a car dock because it wasn't doing what it was supposed to do. It may be that you have a bad docking device?

Is there an opening on the dock for the speaker if not that would muffle the sound on the x.

The phone ring while in the dock is good - just the alarm is not loud enough. I would like to change the alarm sound to a different one, but do not see an option to change the alarm ringer.

To change the sound for the alarm., click on the alarm icon. Next click on the time you want to change the sound. Scroll down to "Sound". You'll see four choices. If you have any music on your phone, click on MP3 and choose any song or sound you want, Click on OK. Click on Done, and there you have it.
