No problems with my Droid X

Just wanted to let the faithful viewers know that not every Droid X owner has major soul-crushing problems with their beloved phone.

I've had the following issues with my mind-blowingly awesome Droid X

1. MP3 issues with the phone not recognizing the file as an MP3. Shut the phone off and pull the battery for a second or two. Reverse steps, power up...problem fixed.

2. Odd screen glitches after pulling my phone out of the VW pouch holster. Usually the glitches fix themselves after moving the phone from vertical to horizontal a few times...if not, use the process in issue one....problem fixed.

Everything else has been amazing and consistent in working as expected.

Maybe we could highlight what we like best about the DX here.

For me, the flexibility in personalization to make the phone one-touch functional for nearly every app/widget, plus the 32G capacity on the SD card....I've already got over 40 albums of music and close to 90 books saved....still tons of room left in memory.

Bloatware memory-space issues???? really????

Good to hear of your positive experience with the Droid X. I suspect that there are waay more users like you and I and several users here with good things to say about the X

But that's not to minimize the users who ARE experiencing difficulties with the X. There are issues that pop up and need to be dealt with, some severe enough to warrant phone replacement. There's lots of folks here that are willing to with these issues when possible.

I agree with the concept of your thread. Too many times we can't see the forest for the trees. I've had my share of troubleshooting issues. Time to consider the GOOD things about our phones.

Not all of these are exclusive to the Droid X, but here is what I like about mine:

No more Mapquest. Just open the Yellowbook app and speak a search term, with location enabled. Choose the desired store, business, etc. and "Maps". From the popup, choose "Navigation". Get GPS navigation to location.

Apps, apps and more apps. Watch as friends and co-workers look on with envy as I show others different funny, interesting and cool apps that they don't have on their iphones. They almost always reply, "Iphones have that app". To which I reply, "For free"? That is followed by silence..............

Google Translator. I use this app to communicate with a contractor at work that speaks very little English and add to my limited Spanish knowledge in the meantime.

Fast browsing. The documented 3G issues notwithstanding, most of the time the browser on the X is fast. Even faster with wifi. Browsing with Adobe Flash, giving an experience as if you were browsing from a computer.

Bluetooth headphones for listening to music and/or taking phone calls while driving.

My 1+Gig of personal mp3s barely makes a dent in the storage space. Numerous other OTA music choices.

Videos can be downloaded from YouTube to the SD card. Many aren't aware that is another thing the "secret society" won't allow on their phones.

Ease and speed that I can take a photo and upload it to my computer at home, or work, via USB without Big Brother iTunes having anything to do with that, either.

Custom homescreens. Custom folders with my bookmarks and apps. I have folders for "Phone Forums", "TV News", "Newspapers", "DFW News" (with a custom icon of the Dallas skyline), to name a few.

Viewing and paying my cell phone bill using "My Verizon", in a matter of seconds.

Recording video, editing it and uploading it to YouTube, also in very little time.

A display that is so large that it gives iphone owners "display envy". When I am playing a YouTube video that only takes up part of my display, I point out that it was probably recorded on an iphone. What I call "mini video from a mini phone".

Durability. The glass, so far as I've experienced, IS unscratchable.

I think we all agree the X could use a better speaker. But, even that "HTC Surround" is no boom box. Phones are never going to have the volume and quality some would like. Then again, never say never.

Longer battery life would be nice, too.

It's the features that really eats he battery. I recently set up a Droid X for my girlfriend. All in life she will ever do with a phone is answer it or call the 5 people in her speed-dial. She doesn't surf, uses next to no data (I've turned off the GPS and bluetooth radios, but she does talk a good bit, using the X as her main phone even though she has a landline.

And she's getting a little better than 3 days of use before a charge.

Oh, yeah, the speaker could be louder, but the ring volume was REALLY bad before the Froyo update. Thankfully, I can hear it ring just fine now.

I've had my Droid for about a week now and I have to say that I am very impressed with this phone! It is like having a computer in my pocket. The 3G surfing is blazingly fast and the apps are plentiful. I didn't really intend to get the phone for the apps, but when you have them, you might as well use them.

As far as the phone itself, I had a ton of issues with the call quality of my Blackberry Storm, but this phone gets excellent reception and I have not had a dropped call since I have had it. My house is in a valley in our neighborhood and service has always been poor, but I have been able to make calls with my phone from home without any problem.

The final thing I like about this phone is the intuitive keypad interface for texting and typing: it is extraordinary! I love how the Droid searches for word matches that you can click on to save further typing. Very cool.

The only thing I dislike about the phone is the brief battery life. My battery would probably function better, but I have had this thing in the palm of my hand constantly throughout the day (more than I should). Perhaps if I was doing my work instead of playing with my phone, my battery wouldn't drain so badly.

Anyhow, what's not to like about this phone? I think Tony Tiger would agree that "It's GRRRRREAT!"

I love my DRoid X also. When I was with Sprint and T-Mobile I always said I wanted an iphone but didn't want AT&T. But now that Verzion has the iphone I have decided I love my Droid X too much to give it up. Its without a doubt the best phone I have ever had. I have had a few bumps in the road with it. But in the end I love it. The only thing I would like is to be able to hold the phone vertical to take a pic without the picture being sideways.

I've had my Droid X for about seven months now. Had to pull the battery maybe twice. Never had to do a factory reset. Will definitely not exchange my Droid X (or my R2D2 Droid) for any IPhone.

I use my Droid X almost all the time for the internet. It is so much faster than my laptop. I too use Google Translator. I deal with people with limited English and this really helps me a lot. I love the larger screen and Swype, which I do not believe the eye phone has. I have seven screens, whereas, I believe, the eye phone has only three. I like the more solid feel of the Droids compared to the plastic lightness of the eye phone. No way will I swap my Droids for a wannabe eye phone.

Went from the LG DARE to my fist SmartPhone when I bought the DROID X on Sept. 6th. I could not be more happy with this choice. I've had maybe 3 battery pulls since then, and maybe 2 unexpected reboots. But my LG DARE experienced a few reboots in the 15 months that i had it. I chock it up to being a computer, nothing less. I love the large screen, the amount & quality of FREE APPS, and the configurability that it provides to customize it the way I (mostly) want (blur aside). I actually considered the iPhone for a brief time because I didn't understand SmartPhones; having never used one - and everyone was so i-This and i-That. But honestly, once I put them side by side and took into consideration how locked down the iPhone was, the DROID X was a no-brainer ... (many friends "jailbreak" their phone only to no longer get updates to the IOS and other issues.). But then again I *ANALYZED* my decision and didn't buy into the iPhone hype nor drank that kool-aid.

Very happy with my DROID X and sticking to it.

I've had a few minor issues with my X other than that not to bad it still can't get all the Winamp shoutcast stations but i'm not to

worried an if i want to listen to something it cant pick up i my incredible can take up the slack it's nice to have two different

androids. when one can't do the job the other can. But if neather can do the job i scratch my Head till i figure something out or

Since I view technology these days as being flawed at best, I really do not concern myself with little bugs here and there because everything is bound to have them... I have had little to no issues with using my Droid X and I am happy with my decision in a whole. Most average issues are usually generated from a problem app and by acknowledging this I can enjoy my device without regret.

I truly feel that the Droid X is one of the best designed device because it is a sturdy, solid device, it is built to withstand everyday use without having to pamper the unit, if I drop it, I simply pick it up and dust it off and continue on my way.

I LOVE MY DROID X!!! :smileyhappy:

I have had my Droid X for 3 months ...and man its fantastic... No problems...atleast none that are the phones fault.

All of the problems I have had were generated by me and my lack of knowledge on settings etc...but the battery life is

alot better than my last phone...etc etc etc...I AM VERY HAPPY.

After a rough start, I can't be more than a few feet away from my Droid X...it's always nearby (I get a bunch of emails, texts, Tweets, and FB posts) Great way to keep in touch with people. Great internet browser. Superior screen. Great video playback. I can customize it pretty much the way I want it and have it do almost anything I want in the way I want it to. The only reason I get on my home laptop anymore is when I have a lot of research or a lot of typing to do. With my Droid X, I'm pretty much carrying my computer with me everywhere I go. (Anyone know of a waterproof case so I can take it into the shower?? LOL j/k)

I'd recomend a sandwich-sized ziploc bag. Affordable, easy to use, and you can use sharpies to color it the way you like :smileywink:

This also might be your only option if you use the Extended battery and its door that sticks up just enough to screw up most good cases.... :smileymad:

I have a friend who was on the radio recently talking about teens and texting. She talked about a girl who actually did just that so she could keep texting in the shower.

Kinda wandring off-topic, but did you guys see the video of the kid that walked off a train platform because he was either texting or playing a game and not paying attention to where he was walking?

There is probably waaay more of that sort of thing that we have any idea of...

I've owned the droid x for 6 months now, with no serious problems. one or two force closes and hang ups, but nothing major at all. Call quality is excellent!

I've had my DX for 7 months or so. No major problems to report other than UE (user error). I am satisfied with the device and see no reason to switch to an I-Phone. My son has an Incredible and we have had no problems with it either.

Here's the coolest features I've came across. As far as the speaker issue, go to wallmart and buy the $13 fm transmitter in the car isle. While driving set it to 88.1 and sit in amazement. Yes, I have quality sound out of my four ford explorer sport speakers. Two aaa batteries and your set. Also, by mistake I had a call come in while on he interstate and I did not know what to do. So I answered and within 3 seconds the music stopped and I was having a handsfree conversation inrush hour traffic. Wow! What a cheap way to avoid annoying blue tooth pairing fun. Hmm $80+ for a bluetooth kit that's just purdy or$13 and hands free talk and your own personal music selection. Im from europe and it illegal not mention difficult to hold a while driving on the autobahn.
Guess what my fellow droid friends are getting for christmas. Yep, a german engineered talkinshpiel aka $13 walmart fm transmitter. Thouht that would be cool to say.
As far as the other cool features, I have another cheap engineering trick that will make you look like you have just went through the evolution machine from the mario brothers movie. I downloaded the emulator that was free which allows you to pick a game, and it takes you to download the correct app to play that game, but wait. I grabbed my sons wii controller and found a free app where I can sit back and play the games via bluetooth. Word!!! Very simple and you will have your IT guys at work blown away.

As far as the lagging, you probably as the previous comments stated, have downloaded a free app that jacked up your x. Don't feel bad bc I downloaded everything free out excitement and what worked wasa total restore. Just make sure your info is on back up assistant which is free. After all the playing around I read all comments first and research before anything.

I went even cheaper. My car has a cassette player. I bought an old cassette adapter from a pawn shop for three bucks, plugged it into my phone, then had the music I wanted plus the instant hands-free phone situation.

Even better news for those with autos that have an auxiliary audio jack...it all works the same way with the cord available from the VW store.

This phone totally rocks.....at least until the Bionic comes out

I'm thrilled with my Droid X. Have had it since mid August. It's not perfect and I did have wifi issues at first. Every phone has some issues but this was such a great transition from my old WinMo Samsung Saga that I liked as well. It is a go to for all of my information and entertainment. I have a bluetooth speaker system at home and blast through that a lot. I have the car dock with charger all set in my car and use navigation a lot. I upgraded my car stereo and stream music through bluetooth from the X all the time. There are some glitches occasionally but nothing overwhelming. The phone is a solid build as well without a scratch after dropping it many times. I've upgraded my storage to 32gb and have a plethora of accessories for it. I'm so glad to see the Droid X2 having the same design so my multimedia and car dock equipment will be reusable once I do upgrade in a year or so. The smartphones of 2010 and beyond are a game changer and life enhancers. Knowledge is truly at your fingertips at all times and the Droid X is very responsive. I go to the droid x forum on Motorola's site frequently and get irritated with the whiners that just won't stop on certain subjects. No matter what, there is always going to be people you can't please. The camera is very usable and produces great images with low light limitations. Again, to hear some people complain about the camera is an irritant as well. You can't expect Nikon type quality from a small lense on a phone. Jeez, be happy with what they gave you.

I haven't had any real problems with my Droid X.... The only thing I can think of is the recent software update has things kinda jacked up between the Adv Task Killer not working correctly and if the screen times out then you try turn back on. Like going into a text message, it doesn't let me type and I have to back out to home screen, lock the phone wait for so long and go back in. Even then it doesn't always work, I may have to restart to do it.

I just got off online chat with a Verizon Wireless CSR (Frances). I made some changes to my plan. I went to unlimited text because with my Droid X, my texting has increased trememdously. (Over the past three months, I went from 250 to 500 to 5000 plans. I found I could save a few bucks by going to the unlimited text plan.) All because of this phone...the Droid X. Loving it more every day!
