Simultaneous Voice & Data

I'm contemplating switching from the blue map carrier to Verizon and the Moto Droid specifically. Being an iPhone user now I often find myself using email/web/maps while on a voice call so I imagine not being able to do that with a CDMA radio device like the Droid is going to be quite a downer for me. Can some current Droid users tell me exactly what to expect out of this "one or the other" limitation? The questions I have are:

1) If you are surfing the web or downloading an attachment and someone tries to call you at that moment what happens--does the phone interrupt the data stream and push the call through or does the caller on the other end go straight to your voicemail?

2) Do you get a notification and prompt that you may be getting an incoming call while using data and can you choose to answer the call and disconnect the data connection?

3) What about text messaging...can you send and receive those while using either data or voice?

One last non-voice/data question about the Android mail app...if I have a GMail and Exchange account will I have to switch mailboxes/folders/apps to see my emails or is there a concept of a "Universal Inbox" like Outlook and Blackberries have?

1)Depends on the App. Pandora, when you're using it will automatically push it to VM. When I'm surfing the web I get the call.

2)Now that you mention it, that would be a spectacular. But no.

3)You can.

As far as I know, Android isn't very "Exchange Friendly." But you would have to actually switch apps/folders to see either e-mails.

If you have your Wifi radio on before you get a call. Say you are at home or Starbucks (assuming you have gold status), McDonalds, Krystal, Most auto mechanics shops, Friends homes, Burger King, Some pizza places, Coffee shops, Some doctors offices and dentists offices, and other things and you connect to the WIFI then if you get a call or whatever you will still be connected to the internet. From what I hear you can't turn the wifi radio on while in a call for some reason. Downloads and the like finish as soon as you disconnect and I have written e-mails while on a call and it goes sends when I hang up. No big. If you tend to talk for hours at a time it could be a bigger issue. Honestly I wouldn't notice it if I hadn't read about this as being a big limitation. It just really doesn't happen to me ever really.

I have always been able to send and receive texts even while on a call. Sometimes it gets annoying if you are talking to someone about important business or whatever and a friend or someone trying to get a hold of you keeps texting why aren't you answering where are you I know you have your phone or whatever.

I haven't found a situation yet where data trumps calls. Downloads can always pause and be restarted after a call but sometimes calls are urgent so they are given priority. There isn't any way to know whether it is your bored buddy Bob asking if he can borrow some hack saw he already has at his house or if it your child who just hit a pedestrian and doesn't have any idea what to do or your wife just lost her job or your mom just died or whatever.
