my 13 year old called - he wants his OS back

Since there really is no other efective way to give feedback to Verizon, I'll post this here and hope someone is paying attention.

Plain and simple - MotoBlur is a solutioin looking for a problem, and has no business being on a high end phone like the Droid X.

I want Motoblur off my very expensive phone (yes I paid full price fr it). I want all the storage hogging, power sucking, broken, buggy "enhance your social life" apps to go COMPLETELY away.

I also want the apps that Verizon thought they could make a few bucks off us by craming them down our throats OFF MY phone. This includes apps Like City ID, and Blockbuster.

Bottm line? MotoBlur sucks - the wigets suck, the forced integration sucks, the corporate environment support sucks, the bloatware sucks.

I don't want it, and there isn't a **bleep** thing anyone can say, spin, restate, explain, or express that could change my mind.

I honestly hope that the delay in releasing Froyo (android 2.2) is so that Motorola can quickly get rid of this red headed step child and give us a real operating system back.

I'm done kissing this pig, because the lipstick didn't help.

I am going to tell you that if you don't like it (there are some who don't and that's OK), Return it. There are lots of people wanting your phone. Simple

Exactly, some people are waiting a month and a half for a phoen they'll love, and there are people who didn't bother testing it complaining about it.

Even though I love my Droid X to death and couldn't be any happier with the hardware the phone has, the custom Motorola skin that they put on top of android is just AWFUL. I would even pay a little more for the phone to have no custom skin and with no bloatware. If Verizon wants to make money off bloatware that's fine but at least allow me an option to get the phone with just stock android like the Droid & Nexus One.

There was no secret that this version of Motoblur was on the phone. Every single review mentioned it and many went into detail about it. It's like buying a car then complaining about the interior color to the dealer.

I have to agree about MotoBlur or whatever Moto decided to call it SUCKS but have you tried installing Launcher Pro, it is incredible and performes better than stock interface..... Another thing I learned that if you decide to use a diffrent launcher app it is wise to remove all the widgets off the stock interface because they seem to continue use resources eventho they are not being used. My system showed 10 meg less usages of memory once I did this...

i applaud you for being honest as the previous contributors are clearly in the back pocket for verizon. keep up the good work and let people know about your issues. I have the same and verizon says there's no problems with our phone/apps. ha ha ha

this phone is a geeks dream. those that have nothing better to do in their lives rather they enjoy fixing their broken phone. This reminds me of 15yrs ago when all the geeky computer kids ran home to hack others systems. now its the same kind of kids trying to fix a problem. just keep in mind this is stimulating for these sickos.

thank you verizon and community for letting me know how fraudulent their behavior is. if anyone wants to buy my droid please have at it so you can take over my problems. i would prefer to spend time with my family rather than babysit this {word filter avoidance}

I bought it because the hardware and features are awesome. I love the physical phone.

I couldn't test corporate exchange sync in the store (yes I DID look at it first), I couldn't know that the there was a notification bug that meant I would miss important emails becuase the notification never happened.

I couldn't know that the motoblur software was not removeable, and will always run even if you trash the widgets.

I couldn't know that they had crippled the HDMI port so that only one app could use it.

I actually would prefer to have it fixed, but if not I will return it.

Waiting for 2.2 to arrive was my first hope, but now they have delayed that, so I may have no other choice.

What you don't see in my post is all the conversations that took place with Motorola, and the unsatisfactory responses.

I wouldn't care if I could turn it off completely, but since it is always running, it's an issue for me.

Unfortunately your analogy is off, as just becuase they said it was there, they didn't disclose all it's bugs (like corporate email notifications not working) or the crippling of the HDMI port, or the fact that City ID runs forever and you can't get rid of it.

I bought the car, love the color, but want the brakes to work too.

Why do you assume I didn't test it?

I couldn't set up my corporate email on a store phone and carry it for several days to discover a bug now could I?

They didn't have the app that tells you every program they are running in the background so I had no way of knowing how much bloat was running.

I couldn't try and uninstall all the apps I didn't want off the phone in the store could I?

I DID test the phone, loved the hardwae, but (and I admit) foolishly thought I could completely turn off MotoBlur.
