Thinking about upgrading to Droid 2 - Have Questions

I'm thinking of upgrading to the droid 2, but I have some questions first.

 

I know that on the phone you have where you can share internet with other wifi enabled devices.  Is there an extra fee for this?  Secondly,  If doing this...what is the quality of the internet speed?   Because I can't see paying for internet twice (at home and on my phone)  I don't know if  I could just use the internet off my phone to use on my computer at home.  Is anyone currently doing this, and if so how well does it work?

There is an additional $20 fee to use the D2 as a hotspot unless you gain admin rights. (certain words are not allowed here).

The speed you would get with tethering is nothing like what you would get at home with DSL or cable.
