none of my "Address Book Contacts" show up in the recipient selection box when I attempt to send a text message from the VZ site. Are these not the same contacts that reside on my phone?
No, they are not. You can only send text messages to another Verizon phone from the vtext.com site - and the address book you create there is specifically for the vtext app.
From the texting FAQ's:
Messages to subscribers on other carriers' networks can be sent from Verizon Wireless 2-way text messaging capable devices but cannot be sent from VText.com.
Thanks - thats seems unduly arcane. How is anyone supposed to know what carriers my contacts are using? And why do you suppose that restriction exists? And where is it explained that messaging from the VZ site has that limitation? And what the heck is the vtext app?
Apologies up front but technology seems to make communications more difficult some time. I happen to live where there is no cell signal . . . (in the sticks)

I use the web site called Txt2day to send out text messages.Works just fine. You can look up to see which provider the person has. it's called reserve cell phone .Go HERE to look it up
You can also send from your e-mail as text to someone on another provider. If you google there is a list of the addresses for other providers like we have yournumber@vzwpix.com. I know for a fact you can do it with AT&T as my friend has that and I did it . Here is a list I have but I think these are texting only so you have to google to find the ones for attaching pictures. But how do you read the reply text message on the Verizon site? Or is that not possible?
