I REALLY WANT TO HEAR SOME OF THE PEOPLE WHO BROUGHT THE STAR WARS DROID EDITION? GOOD OR BAD EXPERIENCES!!!
I got mine and like it alot. I had the original Droid and was wary about getting the new D2 because of all of the things Motorola did to keep you from loading a custom ROM on the phone once it is rooted.
The phone is a lot more responsive than my original and the implementation of Android 2.2 seems more solid. I was able to get around all of the mess of Motorola's Blur by using Launcher Pro. The phone has enough memory and a fast enough processor to make up for all of the extraneous Verizon has added to it.
I'm pretty fond of the phone and the R2D2 shell is very cute. I'm not sorry that I bought it. I have even been able to transfer the licenses of the apps I bought which was pretty nice.
Im not sure what you mean by "able to get around all of the mess of Motorola's Blur by using Launcher Pro". The droid 2 does not require motoblur to function. Phones like the Devour do require it and an actual motoblur accnt is required for the phone to even function. The Droid 2 does not.
While you are correct, a motoblur account isn't required, there is quite a bit of "motorola specific" UI involved in the D2. The phone actually reports itself as a MotoBlur device in some cases.
For those who have used the Android OS without the Motorola "customization" the differences can, at times, be frustrating. The Motorola customization on top of the Andoid OS is commonly refered to as Motoblur (whether or not it technically is Motoblur is open to interpretation).

AHHH. ok that makes sense. I was just a bit confused and perhaps a bit to legalistic in the translation of the motoblur term.
