Weird text message problem

My text message threads will automatically erase after so long, but at one point, it erased all threads, then a fried texted me and I texted him back, only it all of a sudden changed and switched to another contact in my address book. He was wondering what I was talking about, then I texted him an explanation and it send it to an ENTIRELY different person. I rebooted and it seems to have fixed itself, but this isn't the first time it's happened, among other crazy texting errors I've gotten.

Anybody else have this problem?

This is the buggiest phone I've ever had in my life.

This didn't happen to me but it did happen to a friend. He had to hard reset the phone and it doesn't do it anymore.

No joke I am on my 4th Droid phone because of this problem and I'm actually on hold with verizon to get a completely different phone. Today was the last straw, as my best friend just left for afghanistan and ALL of the messages he was able to send me from the journey have all been deleted. This is unacceptable. Time after time ALL of my messages and threads have been deleted, even LOCKED messages! I'll have my threads intact one minute and the next minute I'll check my texts and all of the threads will be gone except the one text I got. And on top of that sometimes that one text will be obviously from the last person I was texting, but the contact on the thread will be the wrong one. Also, I'll select a thread and it will bring up a completely different thread, I'll go to text one contact and it will text a different person.

I've done phone resets, I've got new phones, I've asked about a battery short (they said no) -- I've done it all, each time.

I too have had this problem, but I am only on my first replacement Droid. It's been activated for all of 15 hours when the problem happened again. I called customer service and couldn't even get the phone activated again after a hard reset for almost two hours!

A very good friend previously had these same texting issues..he was almost immediately upgraded to Droid 2 and had no more problems. If it happens again, I believe I will demand an upgrade.
