I just bought this phone. I use it to do some browsing and texting. I am not on that long but I have to charge it every night.

Is it just the way it is? A friend suggested downloading free software that will remove "unwanted software that is running"??

Pretty much, yes. I charge mine nightly and it easily lasts all day, but it does require charging daley.
Do not download a "task killer" app. They do more harm than good, and in most cases will shorten battery life.

I was most displeased when I first bought my phone. I didn't do enough research ahead of time. Well, actually, I thought I had but I should have known better than trust the manufacturers website.

With all of the bloatware Verizon put on my phone I'd be like to get 2 days without using, let alone 13.125 days.

Honestly, I just think its ABSURD that they can get away with saying that. When my battery died after 8 hours the first day I had my phone I was VERY VERY UNHAPPY.

I'd like a tech website to test the D2 to see if there is ANY possible way to make it come close to 13 days of standyby. I just don't think its possible. At least not in a status where it could actually take a call if someone called it... you know, like a phone should be able to do.

Smart phones are mini computers. I don't understand why people expect the battery to last all day. Your laptop battery doesn't last all day.

Smart phones run apps in background, there are settings to update email, social networking, weather, etc.

You either micro manage what you're doing with your phone to make the battery last longer or you charge it more often.

I choose to charge it more often and not worry about the screen brightness, animations, live wallpaper, sync frequency, etc.

I charge my phone overnight and throughout the day.

So why are you complaining here and not on the manufacturer's (Motorola) web site?

The manufacturer based that on what? For all you know it was based on not having background data on, not making any phone calls, no texting with the screen brightness turned all the way down.

They cannot account for how each and every customer will use their device, so they give the basics based on some oddball testing. I have yet to have a laptop battery last 6 hours though the manufacturer says it should.
