3G Icon vanished

My 3G icon has vanished off of my topbar a couple days ago, and I only get connections while I am around WiFi areas and am in WiFi mode..

Is there some way to "turn on" 3g manually?

I turned the phone off and back on,

I toggled WiFi on and off

I toggled airplane mode on and off

I did the *228 option 2 thing

the phone is updated to the current updates available..

There isnt any way to make the 3G icon go away unless you install a app that modifified the settings, try powering off and pull battery for 30 seconds and the place it back in a restart device and see if this helps...

Does you internet still work even without the icon present and does the 1X icon not show also? Because it does I would really lean towards a application that you installed, I would check all apps installed and see if any has any features that ties into the data connection and remove it.

Just in case your data is locked up try the following:

1. Do a battery pull reset.

2. Dial #228 and pick option 1 allow the phone to program if program failure dial *611 and go through tech support.

3. after phone resets, test your internet browser for connection.

If you still get nowhere, you may want to call *611 as there might be a hung data session on their end and they'll have to reset your data authentication keys.
