Fascinate not holding charge

I have only had my fascinate for less than a month, if the phone is off and I charge it, once I un plug it and turn it on... it says dead battery. If I charge it while on, the phone will say that it has a complete charge until I unplug it.... is this just a bad battery? HELP!!! Please, as I can not stay connected to a cord.

Random Question and not to be mean and put you down but as a employee at a cell phone company i think of the questions i ask customers when they call in. 

 

Does the batter light come on as if the phone is charging?

 

have you attempted a different outlet?
