Anyone else have the Bootloader update fail issue?

So I dl'd the new update today. Hit yes for the dl and hit yes to let the phone turn off and update. Package unloaded. Phone restarted and bam

Called tech support and the told me they have no clue as to what is wrong and can't access my phone. Told me that I can go to a dealer and get a new phone for $90???? Anyone else run into this problem and know how to fix it? I sure as hell am not paying $90 for their update that don't work. Thanks for any help.

Yep, you can try to do a data reset on the device. Remove battery, replace battery, Hold down power and home button until a droid guy and triangle appear on the screen. Press the Search button, then select Data option with the volume keys. Follow the prompts to reset data.

This error generally comes along because of a key mismatch with the bootloader. ie trying to load an older version on newer bootloader. But it does generally happen when there is simply some data corruption.

However, it does sound like Tech support has determined that the error code you provided points at actions that void the warranty. That would be why they said that you would need to purchase a replacement phone.

Most I have done is put on three apps that I paid for thru the Market place. Let them try to charge me for a new phone tomorrow. I have only had this phone for 1.5 months.

Like I said, try the data reset. With well over 1mil of these phones sold, there's bound to be a couple genuine failures when updating.

ya the tech guy had me do that. All it did was shut it off. No little guy on the screen. even removed the battery for 30 mins. still nothing.

crb79 is correct, try the reset.... I have seen this happen when a user does a update and when they restart dvice after update instead of allowing device to build cache and boot they pull battery because they think it hung on "M" or Droid eye animation... After a update the device takes a longer time than normal because the system has to update additional files on bootup before boots completes.

Power Device Off First.....

1. Hold Home Button and press power

2. Screen will show a Android with a triangle with astrick

3. Let Go of Home Button and Power

4. Press Search Button (Far Right Button)

5. A blue menu will show at top of page, scroll to Format Device

6. Select Yes to verify

7. Allow format to complete (Information at bottom of page will go through a few steps)

8. Once Format is complete Blue Menu will show at top again, select Reboot

Note: Use volume up and down to select opinion and use camera button as Enter,,,
