Motorola Droid WiFi Hotspot

I have attempted to "tether" my DROID 2.2 FROYO to my XP LAPTOP. I was disappointed to learn that it will cost an addition $15 - $20 based on 2 available plans with  2 or 5 mb of usage. PHOOEY!

As I read the plans, only the 2 GB for $20 is available to smartphones. In addition, although it says it's available, Verizon won't sell it to you. It's also not a hotspot, only a tether to one computer.
