Otterbox commuter case with car mount?

I just got a Droid X, and I'd really like to get the Otterbox commuter case. Does anyone know for sure whether it is compatible with a vehicle mount? Otterbox website says no, but the rep at the VzW store says that car mounts have a removable insert that allows it to work. I'd appreciate any info, especially the exact model of the car mount (if any) that works with the Otterbox. Thanks!

I have a rubber sleeve and by taking out the dock insert it is a tight fit.

The car mount does have a removable insert to accommodate a sleeve. When I got my X, I had a hard protective sleeve, but could not get it to work. I don't know if the commuter would work with it. You may want to see if the rep at the store would let you try it out. I am not worried about it anymore. I have a defender. No chance it will work without removing the case.

Thanks for the replies. I can't find a local store with the Otterbox commuter in stock, so I'm going to have to order it. I was hoping to figure out the compatibiity issue before ordering.

It has been verified that there isnt any cases made to fit into the car or home docks without some colorful modifications.... A number of users have removed the car insert and filed the up raised peice of plastic on the right corner of dock and then they could use some of the slimmer gel cases but no hard case has been able to work.

With a little creativity and a dremel tool I was able to get the DX in the shell/holster case that Verizon sells to work. I originally had the silicone sleeve on it and it was a tight squeeze to make it work in the car dock. But me being me I wanted something that was going to add more protection for the phone and a belt clip. Took a little trial and error but now I have the best of both worlds. ..
