Email Inbox in my Droid...old deleted emails wont go away!

I have a new Droid Incredible and all is going well except for my emails. I have been using a Gmaill account for several months on my laptop and on my previous device which was a Blabkberry Tour. When I look at my inbox on my laptop I only have 9 emails and my deleted items is empty. However for some reason I have 59 old emails in my inbox on my Droid. When I recieve new emails of course I have more than that.

Deleting new emails does not seem to be a problem. But with regards to my old emails, no matter how many I delete, I always have 59 emails. This is very fristrating...anybody out there know something that can help me out?

On your laptop, in the list to the left of the screen is MORE. Clcik on more and their should be another trash folder. See if the messages are there. I had the same issue until I saw there was another folder.

On occasion I get an error in my Gmail app indicating that I have additional unread emails in my inbox. This usually goes away after messing with it for a little while. I certainly have not experienced a difference of 59, but you might try force closing your app, then turning your phone off and on to see if the problem goes away. It works to clear up my little bug whenever it happens -- again, it's no 59 email bug.

I have provided some information below that may help.

Step 1 – Try clearing the email applications data. I have provided the instruction below:

-Press Menu
-Select Settings
-Select Applications
-Select Manage Applications
-Select Gmail
-Clear Data

***Once completed, give the application a few moments before accessing.

Step 2 – Try what budone suggested and ensure that those messages are not in another folder within the Gmail account.

Step 3 – Try the device in Safe mode and remove the messages.

Step 4 – Repeat the soft reset

-Power the device off
-Remove the battery for 20 seconds
-Place the battery back in
-Power the device back on
