porting out number in 'my numbers' app

since 'my numbers' app has been discontinued I have been trying to port out my number to a voip service

I keep getting a rejection back saying the account number is wrong

I have been using the account number on my verizon bill

is there a different account number i should be using, if so where do i find this

I’m having the same issue. VZW customer service hasn’t been able to help as they cannot locate the My Number virtual number on their end.

I have the same issue not a single employee knows how to fix it. I have to return a brand new phone, cancel athe line and throw away my business cards because of Verizon. Thinking about going to the better business bureau and complaining to get my time and money back

Hi there! I am so sorry to hear you haven't received the help you have needed. Under our Worry Free Guarantee, you can return or exchange any device you purchase from us, as long as it's 30 days or less from your date of purchase.

If you purchased your phone at a store, you would have to complete your return at the same store you purchased from. However, if you purchased online, or through telesales, social media, or chat, you would need to mail your phone back to our warehouse, which it sounds like you have been trying to do. \

If you have a business account, you would have to contact our business department to assist you with your return. Our business department is the only department that has the ability to access business accounts.

I’m currently trying to go through tier 2 support with Verizon’s porting center: 888-844-7095. No luck yet but they seem to have a better idea of the unique aspects of the My Number virtual number. I plan to follow up tomorrow.

I have been going round and round with Verizon. Here are my replies on another thread about the same problem that give some information that might be helpful:

As others have posted, the number Verizon provides is useless as most of the reps don't have a clue what My Numbers is. I have been going around in circles for the past week with a rep telling me everything is good for porting my My Numbers number to a new line, only to get the same conclusion: Verizon needs the account number from my "Previous service provider". Except Verizon IS the provider who provided the number. I ran down two possible third party companies, Sinch and Intelliquent. Intelliquent says the number belongs to one of their clients but they refuse to tell me the name of that company due to privacy laws. I'm actually on hold right now with Verizon and of course they say they can port it, but I'm sure it will end up the same. I too use this number for a business and if I can't keep it, I have to buy new signs, business cards, and other marketing materials.

So, Verizon, besides your canned answer about calling customer service, ARE YOU GOING TO HELP US OR NOT?

I finally tracked down the "previous service provider". An internet search shows my My Numbers number carrier to be Level 3 Communications. They are no longer in business but they were acquired by Lumen. So it appears Lumen is the "previous service provider", but of course I don't have an account with them and so don't have an account number to provide to Verizon. I just got off the phone with a Verizon tier 2 tech (Lacey) who said she has had success on porting a My Numbers number and said all of the previous attempts had the incorrect information. I probably won't know if she was successful until next week. I'm not very optimistic. I will provide an update.

I posted this in another thread, but the correct number to call is the VZW porting center at 1 (888) 844-7095. You’ll need to ask for Tier 2 support.

It finally worked for me to transfer to a new VZW wireless line. They needed to use my full account number, including the leading zero and the 00001 suffix without the hyphen. The PIN is the account PIN.

Not sure why it worked this time as I used the same info when trying to port externally last month, but happy nonetheless that it finally worked after many failed port attempts. After porting to a new VZW wireless number I was able to port externally.

coryjb's answer is correct. Copying my post from a similar topic for more context:

Okay, so after hours wasted on the phone with Verizon, they were completely useless. I happen to have a friend who's job is specifically to port numbers, and they were able to help. Basically you want to use the account number on your bill, INCLUDING THE 00001 AT THE END, but not the dash. So if it's 1234567-00001, you use 123456700001. When Verizon reps give you the account number, they don't tell you to use the 00001, but it won't work if you don't.

Secondly, for the pin, do not use a number transfer pin. It's wrong. Use the pin that you have to use when you call Verizon to verify your identity. Mine is 4 digits.

Thirdly, for some reason that makes no sense, Verizon has this as a "wireline" number, aka a landline. Basically what that means for you is it takes 4-5 business days to port to wireless. So with the service ending at the end of the month, you should port asap. Other than that, as long as the address is right it should work.

I was sure I'd have to give up my number, which would be very bad as I use it for business, but this worked. And if I worked with Verizon I never would've figured it out. Because of that, they lost my business. I ported the number to Tello on a dual sim and funny enough, the signal is always better than Verizon. I'm now looking at switching my main number to another carrier as well, it's just unfathomable how bad the level of support was, and now that I know a way cheaper MVNO actually gets better service in my area, I see no reason to stay.
