hello, my notification within my voicemail is on however I'm not receiving notifications when someone leaves me a voicemail
Not receiving voicemail notifications. This started about a year ago with samsung s10. Tech support could not resolve the issue and said I needed to upgrade my phone. I now have a samsung 23 plus. Voicemail notifications worked for the first few days and then stopped. Again tech support has not been able to resolve the issue. If I open the voicemail app and do a manual refresh I can access my voicemails. After listening to the voicemail and deleting them a few hours later my phone shows a voicemail icon when there is nothing there.

I guess it must be some secret between the internal teams at Verizon and the internal teams at Samsung if there is any collaboration going on to fix this voicemail issue. Missed messages again yesterday because they did not show up in the voicemail app.
Spoke with tech support again. The solution - just download and use YouMail. So, I need to download a 3rd party voicemail app to get messages consistently? I mean, I did briefly use YouMail previously so I do know that works. But by that logic, I might as well get Google Voice and make calls through Google Voice and then download a 3rd party text app for texting and I already use Gmail, but I don't know if that would be a 3rd party email app.
I also started up in safe mode and went to the voicemail app - no change. Restarted in normal mode and my messages from yesterday plus the new one from tech support conveniently showed up. Now, one thing I was attempting to test was the ability to get a call while in safe mode. Tech support was going to be calling and trying to leave a message while in safe mode, but no call was received. I did get a call once restarted back into normal user mode.
Also worth noting how my account has allegedly been flagged for "excessive communication" with executive relations. Really unprofessional. I hardly think I've excessively communicated with them, but they have neither fixed the issue nor provided the opportunity to return my phone and get one that works.
My husband has called Verizon 5 times now and each time they do the same thing and he hasn't gotten answers. It's insane how many people have this issue with no results.
@cb_2367 I want to personally thank you for all your time and work on this.
I still don't understand the only response from Verizon is to private message. If anyone has had permanent success after doing that, please post what you did that work. Fix should be confirmed it works for voicemails left when phone is powered down.
I am also looking for best thread to follow on the Samsung side and if not a good one, we should get one going and tie these two threads together.
Thinking out of the box.... seems a temp solution could be as easy as a job that runs a refresh/sync on boot until they get this figured out.
My wife and I got the new Samsung Galaxy S23 plus and neither phone has working visual voicemail. We spent hours with both Verizon and Samsung. No one can figure this out. I am looking for a new job and don't get voicemail notifications. This is sad for a $1000 phone and the so called best carrier in the USA. I wish we could go back to Cricket wireless or T-mobile where they let you download the voicemail app.
Hi. Thanks for contacting the Verizon family, we know that you deserve only the best, you can fix that issue follow the next steps.
Go to Settings > Apps > Visual Voicemail. Click Force stop. (This was important!)
Then click on Storage. Do Clear cache and then Clear data.
Then go back to Home. Open Visual Voicemail. It will then go through its setup and ask for the permissions it needs.

That doesn't work. Samsung remotely access my phone warranty and couldn't even fix it. Verizon is a broken company.first. They take away Samsung Cloud. Second visual voicemail doesn't even work.
We can access to your account and check the status of the feature on our end, please reach us back when you can, so we can provide you the link to access.
Add me to the list of broken voicemail. Not getting the service I pay for.
Hello. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We understand the importance of having a good service. Please, send us a PM, so we can find out what the issue is with your network services.

You completely missed the point of my post. Send a PM to get a chat link to further discuss the known problems......... Why?
Just stopped by a Verizon store but they wouldn't help. Amazing the number of stores and the size of each to do nothing but sell phones and Internet service.
I once again proved to the store associate how my voicemail doesn't work properly. I had two known queued up messages that did NOT show up until I refreshed the voicemail.
This is not how it's supposed to work. Tech support says why not use You Mail - an add on voicemail app. The SAMSUNG voicemail app should work properly, but it hasn't across THREE Android devices and two carriers.
I was having this same problem. I finally found the fix thru Samsung support - it's a device setting and not a Verizon setting. The solution is to go to Settings -> Apps -> Voicemail -> Battery and select 'Unrestricted'. This allows the Voicemail app to run in the background and send notifications. Since making this change, I have not seen the problem reoccur.
@j_lloyd Try turning off the phone, then calling your phone and leave a test message. What happens in that scenario?
Changing the battery settings is one of the first things I did. In my case, this setting has made absolutely no difference.
I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MY S22. 90% OF VOICEMAILS I RECEIVE STAY HIDDEN. NO VOICEMAIL SYMBOL ON SCREEN. I HAVE TO GO TO THE VOICEMAIL APP, WHICH DOESN"T SAY THERE IS A NEW VOICEMAIL. HIT REFRESH AND THE VOICEMAIL SYMBOL SHOWS UP ALONG WITH THE NEW VOICEMAIL. UGH I BROUGHT IT IN , THEY REMOVED VOICEMAIL THEN REINSTALLED IT. ALL ON THE PHONE WITH THE TECH CENTER. THE PROBLEM NEVER WAS CORRECTED. THEN THE PHONE WAS TELLING ME THAT IT WAS IN AIRPLANE MODE WHICH IT WASN'T. UNABLE TO USE THE UNIT UUNTIL IT CORRECTED IT SELF. WENT BACK TO VERIZON, THEY ORDERED NEW PHONE. SAME PROBLEM ON NEW PHONE WITH VOICE MAIL. WENT BACK TO VERIZON, DID THE SAME THING WITH TECH CENTER, ON THE PHONE. STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. WENT BACK TO VERIZON, TO BE TOLD I NEED TO DEAL WITH SAMSUNG. 5 TRIPS TO VERIZON. THEY SAID I NEED TO CALL SAMSUNG. WHICH I DID . THEY TOLD ME IF I BOUGHT DIRECTLY FROM SAMSUNG I COULD GET MY MONEY BACK. MY PLAN WHICH STARTED IN JUNE OR JULY HAS A BALANCE OF $600. IM TIRED OF GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM BOTH VERIZON AND SAMSUNG. I GUESS I WILL CONTINUE WITH WITH THIS FIGHT ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IM SELF EMPLOYED AND THIS PHONE IS A LEMON AND I SHOULN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR IT OR PAY FOR AN UPGRADE. DISGRUNTLED VERIZON AND SAMSUNG CUSTOMER.
When I tap on the Voicemail icon, I get a screen that says that I can setup Visual Voicemail and to select "Continue".
When I select continue and it goes directly to the Voicemail icon which says I have No new voicemails.
But if I have a new voicemail, it does not show it.
I have had this voicemail notification problem for months. I seemed to have fixed my phone, but I don't know exactly what solved the problem.
I set the battery to unrestricted. Then I cleared the cache of every system app that seemed relevant, including phone, phone calls, phone services, and voicemail.
I also got rid of a few unused apps, woke up and updated all dormant apps, but I don't think that had anything to do with fixing the voicemail notification.
Anyway, some combination of what I did solved the problem.
@BePrepared
Please try running the test where you power down your phone and then have someone leave you message. Power back up your phone and see if you have any notification that a message was left or even see the call was missed.
@Subquest
No, that did not work. No notification until I hit refresh in the voicemail app. But after the phone was back on, I had my wife leave another voicemail, and I got that notification.
The two things that make a difference when the phone is powered on is changing app to unrestricted and having power save off.
There is no fix being provided by Verizon or Samsung for the issue of calls/messages notifications not working when left when phone is powered down. Manual refresh after powering up is the only workaround. Also missing messages/notifications load if a new message is left when powered on.
This challenge has existed for a very long time and has been reported on S21, S22 and S23 models. I tried to get Samsung tied in and the just archived post. You will see Verizon suggest private massaging and many have, but same steps are repeated that unfortunately don't resolve the challenge for long. At this time there does not appear anyone is working on a solution and there doesn't appear there will be one in the foreseeable future.
Congratulations on getting your voicemail notification issue resolved. We appreciate the update.

This is still not resolved. I'm tired of dealing with this issue. Tickets that have been created have been closed on ONE successfull refresh. This isn't the way this should work. Fine if it's allegedly resolved after one refresh, then keep the ticket open for a few days and verify that the issue has been resolved.
Go to your voicemail settings to confirm that notifications are enabled. Different phone models and carriers have varying settings, but typically, you can access voicemail settings through your phone's dialer app.
Thanks for the tips but this and other tips have been shared. Everything is on with unrestricted battery. Still not receiving notifications. Please read the last 25 pages where others have expressed the same thing.
Same here. Except I only get a "something went wrong" notification. No way to fix or attempt to fix. This forum is no help either.
