pixel 6 text message app issues

starting today, unable to send or receive texts in group messages on Pixel 6. Also unable to send or receive pix/photos thru the message app. have tried all the suggested solutions beside factory reset . Also suggested i contact my carrier (verizon) to see if their is an issue on their end....

I was able to get my phone working again by turning off "Show iPhone reactions as emoji"

Messages Settings > Advanced > Show iPhone recations as emoi

I also experienced an issue that started today (Jan 4 2023). I have a Pixel6 and the group chat I was in (using the default Messages app) no longer works. I can make calls and send SMS text messages to individuals, but I cannot send MMS text messages to groups , nor can I send images to anybody.

I have tried:

Restarting the phone 3 times
Powering off the phone twice
Resetting the network settings
Using FaceBook Messaging as my default messages app
Creating new groups
Sending to different people
Deleting ALL of my messages and clearing the data and cache for the Messaging app

I am on a Verizon support chat now, but the rep has been AFK for almost 30 min now talking with the Support Team.

I suspect that we will have to wait for a system update from Google to get this fixed.
