How do I Disable Voicemail

I think you have to call Verizon customer support to disable voicemail on your account.

My wife does not want voice mail.She does not feel it is crucial.We disabled it a month ago over the phone.It came back.We disabled it again over the phone.Now she has 3 voice mail notifications.We don't want them.Can you disable the notifications?Thx.
