for the handful of pros in the forums

Just out of curiosity what do you guys do?? Wildman anne and the few others who seem to know these phones inside and out what is it you do for a living what go you guys so into the devices im amazed and some of the stuff I read here and the information is generally much better than any other sources provide...im just thanking you guys for the endless help and want to know more about the people that are generally our go to walking tech guides lol

I'm not one of the pros, but I like the X because it is (along with tablets) replacing the pc and laptop. I spend minutes a day on my pc, compared to at least one hour, many times, more, before I got my X. The X was my first smart phone.

I rejected the idea when the iphone came out because I was so anti-Apple and quite frankly those that had them gave off an "aroma" of arrogance.

That's not to say that the iphone isn't a good phone. Its just too coincidental that so many people that use than are (self edit).

My line of work is not IT-related. Also, coincidentally the IT Manager for my company is an iphone user and really knows very little about it, other than it's good for playing his music. So, all smartphone fanatics are not IT people, software freaks, etc.

It's odd though. I participate in other forums (auto, sports, etc.) and people seem to be more into phones. I suppose it's because they are little computers, phones, music players, movie players, game players, etc., all-in-one.

I am not a expert at Android but I enjoy what I do and attempt to learn every aspect of products for development. I do have a number of years under my built in the IT, Computer Analyst, Software and development and the Computer Consultant fields (As you can tell I'm not a young pup) :smileyvery-happy: . I have also worked in the Graphics Editing field for a little bit... Do to the pleasant economy I have been working with a number of small development groups that evaluate software base codes for security flaws.

I was a dedicated Windows WM developer but Android has caught my attention and I have committed myself into learning more about this OS to start developed quality apps for Android.

I am still learning the Android platforms ins ands outs but hope to get everything all figured out soon enough. :smileyhappy:

I was playing with computers when you had to type punch cards, and the computer itself was huge and usually housed in an air conditioned room, about the size of a 3 bedroom ranch. Gee, guess I'm giving my age away too :smileyvery-happy: One thing I've done, which helped a lot was to download the manual prior to my getting the Droid X and reading it from cover to cover. So, when I finally did get the X, I was very familiar with it. As for an occupation related to telephony, nope. Spent 21 years in the Air Force and 18 years working at one of the local teaching hospitals. I just like to mess around with gadgets.

retired helicopter pilot/38 years, so i've got some hi mileage myself.

i find the download manual and the one that came with the dx to be one of the worst manuals, back to the days with the star tac from motorola when i was with gte, before it became verizon.

i read the manual but it really doesnt go into the nooks of android its just a submersive OS i appreciate guys i hope you all keep that interest in tech to keep us all moving.

Yeah the manual can bit a bit limited at times but its a good starting point, I learned that if you used Ubuntu,Fedora Unix, Debian and other Linux based OS it helps to get a understanding of the Android OS because it is designed from Linux kernel and I have used these OS in some level over my years.

you are an inspiration.I am 20 years old and I too love tech, I build computers and enjoy fixing electronics and learning about all kinds of software/hardware and os's. I study and research everyday, maybe someday i'll be an expert like you :smileywink:

I've done a bit of coding for websites I have ran but I took about a year of programming and its just something you love or hate lol there is no middle ground there I was taught through the build from the ground up but would have loved a few prewritten sets of code lol...either way it's no picnic for us beginners at times I do get dissapointed at the exclusions of basic features I find my self fiddling for hours thinking man I miss my old moto track phone ...you the old one that looked like a house phone with a pullout antenna and a text only display with like 5 lines lol but when these things really find the full functionality of a pc ill be more excited I guess im greedy in that aspect wanting more in a phone when I still have things to learn but I would say I don't think its asking too much for google to have a site dedicated to learning every aspect of the os that will probably be the top dog in coming years
