Verizon is generating ill will!
I've spent so much time, many calls and hours now trying to receive and use 2 gift cards promised by Verizon. I finally received the cards. When I tried to use to apply to my account, I wasn't able. When I inquired, I was told to wait until today - until there was a balance on my account. Today, I tired, but I still wasn't able to apply the funds myself (via online or via My Verizon app on phone). Called Verizon and a person in Sales applied one card to my bill and they attempted to apply the second card. We were disconnected. Verizon called me back and tried again. After I gave the number again, we were disconnected a second time. This time the rep did not call back. I called back and was transferred multiple times.
The second person I got said she was not able to apply the payment because she was in sales. She insisted she transfer me to the Verizon gift card customer team which took me to options for the Travel and Merchant gift card center. Once a person came the line, a fellow named Jason said he was not able to take my payment because he was with the service provider for Verizon credit card reward center. He said he had to transfer me back to Verizon. (At least 5 people sent me text messages with links to click to allow access to my account. I clicked allow each time.)
When transferred back to Verizon, the prompts led me to making a payment. It said I have a $200 credit balance and they only allow up to $500 credit balance. So, it seemed to be allowing me to apply the additional $200. But when I tried to make the payment, it said that over-payments can only be made by credit or debit, not gift card! I hate the fact that Verizon warns me to treat these gift cards as "cash", yet they won't allow me to apply them to my account towards my bill. I have to continue to keep up with the gift card until Verizon allows me to apply to my account. This whole process is wrong and broken!
