verizon cloud crashes

the desktop app for windows 10 crashes. it never loads and i cant even click on the "sign in" link. issue occurs even after i do a complete windows 10 reinstall. the app would be easier to use if a ftp connection option was included

Before you start:

Make sure the desktop app is updated to the current version, as fixes and improvements may have been introduced. You can do this by right-clicking on the system tray icon for Verizon Cloud, and selecting “Preferences – Check for Updates”

Background Downloading of your Content

Step One: Setup your Windows Folder

Locate you Verizon Cloud Desktop Icon in the system tray, located at the bottom right of your screen (See [screenshot 01])

Open preferences, and then click “Other Settings”. Scroll to the bottom and choose “Get a Cloud Folder in your Windows File Explorer”. If this were already selected, move to the next steps.

Step Two: Select your Files

With your cursor over the Verizon Cloud icon, Left-Click (Main Mouse Button) to see the Sync Progress window

Click on the 3-dot menu (contextual menu) and choose “Open in File Explorer”

You will be shown the File Explorer window and your VZCLOUD folder. This will show all previous devices that have uploaded content to your Cloud (NOT including the current Desktop). This is the folder you eventually will want to copy, but you may need to do it in sections as bandwidth is a factor (Home Internet connection)

In [screenshot_05], this shows a sub-folder of the VZMOBILE folder seen in [screenshot_04] for all content that was uploaded from the Blackberry STV100-2 (Priv) device. Note that these are thumbnails only, so if you check file size they will be small. That’s expected and resolved in the next steps.

Select multiple (or All) objects in the folder. Then right-click and choose “Copy”

Select a new folder/location on your drive, Right-Click again, and choose “Paste”. This will launch a background download of the full file from your Cloud storage to this new folder location.

Repeat as needed to get all files from the VZCLOUD location/folder to your new location/Folder.

Special Notes about background downloading files:

NOTE: Leave your desktop machine on and connected to the internet. Depending on the size of media to be saved, you may need to turn off SLEEP for the computer until done.

NOTE: ISP connection, download size, and computer's processing power will determine the time required to complete.

NOTE: BEFORE YOU CAN COPY/PASTE, the files in the VZCLOUD folder must be a fully-rendered image, and not a blank icon. This difference is called “Hydration” and means that the Cloud App located the matching content in storage and is ready to be copied. This is important especially if you needed to toggle on “Get a Cloud Folder in your Windows File Explorer” at the end of Step One (above)
