I was approved for the Verizon Visa in early November, and since then my purchase notifications have never worked. I've repeatedly called Synchrony, but their customer service / IT department is grossly incompetent and keeps marking my support tickets as solved without lifting a finger. After a month of getting the runaround from Synchrony, I contacted the Verizon executive office, and received the following canned reply:
"We have received your complaint regarding concerns with Verizon Visa card account alerts. As a customer, we understand how frustrating it can be to be unable to receive communication regarding
your account. The Executive Office of Verizon apologizes for the inconvenience you have experienced; however, all visa card concerns and communications regarding alerts and purchases are handled
through our partner Synchrony Bank. Our office is not the proper avenue to communicate your visa card concerns as we work with Synchrony; however, we lack access to their billing systems to
resolve your concerns. Our Customer Service Team is here to answer any questions regarding your wireless account at 1-800-922-0204, thank you for choosing Verizon."
I also have an open and unresolved CFPB complaint regarding the same issue. I deeply regret applying for the Verizon Visa card, as the service I've gotten from both Synchrony and Verizon has been among the worst I've ever received. The card us unusable to me without purchase alerts, something every other credit card in my wallet has managed to facilitate flawlessly for at least the past decade. Patently unacceptable.
Oh, also the physical card itself is made of the cheapest, flimsiest plastic I've ever felt in my life, and it's not durable at all. After a month of use it looks like a scratched up piece of trash. Why did Verizon switch from the metal card? Terrible, avoid at all costs.
