editing contacts on PC - not syncing with phone

I just had to get a replacement phone - and when I set it up, VZ Cloud downloaded 800+ backed up contacts. I tried to find my contacts - so I could edit them - and delete a bunch of them - but I could not figure out how to access them - so, I just enrolled in one month of the paid Verizon Cloud servi ce - so I could access my contacts - so I could edit them.

after deleting a bunch of contacts from the VZ CLoud COntact list - using my PC - I synced - but none of the changes took effect on my phone .

really trying to clean up my contact list - but not getting very far very fast . . . any thoughts on how to get rid of contacts in VZ Cloud - and have them disappear from the phone?

If contacts are appearing several times it may be because there are three sources: Google Contacts, Phone Contacts, and the Cloud Sync copy. The Contacts App on the device may have a 'Link Contacts" to put all in to one listing.
User can also use the steps outlines before and delete duplicates, and on re-sync they will be removed off device.
check permissions on the app on the device to see if Cloud is allowed to access contacts. Also, if the user enabled encryption on the contacts app.

You should open the Verizon Cloud in a Web Browser (cloud.verizon.com) and there you can see your contacts in the Contacts Section. In this place you can Add/Edit/Delete contact records. Once you are done, Click the ‘Sync’ icon and await the confirmation message. After that, run a manual backup on your device that includes contacts as a selection. You will see your contacts updated on the device.

If you were missing Contacts, then when in the Web Portal open ‘Settings – Trash – Contacts’ and you may restore them to the active Contacts page. Once you are done, Click the ‘Sync’ icon and await the confirmation message. After that, run a manual backup on your device that includes contacts as a selection. You will see your contacts updated on the device.

The Web Portal also allows you to import .csv and .vcf to your contacts page. After that, Click the sync icon as outlined above and follow the remaining steps.

Know that Contacts are a Sync Service, so any time you /edit/delete on your device, the Cloud will reflect that same change in a background action to Sync the data. No Backup required.
