Bad cell service

I bought my son this new phone from Verizon because they offered a deal. The data is a disappointment . It only has 1 or 2 bars at all times and we live in the city. I pay $100 a month for his phone. He has to constantly be connected to the Internet, it’s like why am I even paying the bill if there is hardly any service. Calls are horrible and always glitch out or the call drops because of this horrible service. No matter what I do , customer service can’t help me without trying to have me upgrade or switch to a different plan . I truly don’t recommend Verizon to anyone. I can’t wait till his phone is paid off because I am switching his network.

Hi, your issues are being caused by poor signal strength (the bars are an approximation of how good a signal the phone is picking up from the tower). At one bar, it's not strong enough for calls to work well, but internet connection may or may not be OK. I have read posts from other iPhone users who reported a 3rd party Wi-Fi source interfering with their phone getting Verizon signal. You can test this by powering off your home internet router to see if that improves the phone service.

If that's not it, unfortunately dead zones can occur anywhere as there are a number of causes. A certain competitor who runs their ads on my Hulu service is currently offering to essentially buy out or mostly buy out your phone to get you to switch to them. The hook being, you'd have to buy a new carrier phone with them. And I don't know if Verizon will penalize you with an "early termination fee" for leaving before 36 months are up because that depends on the deal you currently have with them. But could be worth considering. Ask around to see who works better in your area first.
