I want to connect my program content from my Fios One/Samsung TV

Well clem 21 helped me initially but now another problem. Even though I am paying for some streaming services, they are not available through my Fios one STB/ Samsung TV setup. That's because they do not go through the fios one box. So I have to go online through my Samsung TV, but I have Verizon for my main streaming service and the sound cannot go through hdmi and analog at the same time.

Could I forget about the hdmi connection and use analog R&W connectors through my fios box and Samsung TV, so whatever comes from the TV online I could run both through my vintage receiver?

Are you using the USB to power the optical to analog converter or are you trying to get sound out of it? USB is there for power or file transfer only. You need to run an optical cable from the optical out of the TV to the converter, then red and white from the converter to the receiver. The TV should have the optical out setup to PCM, in most cases. Do you have the model# for the converter you are using so I can look that up? On your TV go to Settings Sound Expert Settings> Digital Output Audio Format and make it STEREO. The ONLY audio output you have on that TV are HDMI ARC and OPTICAL. The RCA jacks are inputs only.

Connection notes for audio devices

● For better audio quality, it is a good idea to use an AV receiver.

● If you connect an external audio device using an optical cable, the Sound Output setting is automatically

changed to the connected device. However, to make this happen, you must turn on the external audio device

before connecting the optical cable. To manually change the Sound Output setting, do one of the following:

– Use the Quick Settings screen to change to the connected device:

Use the Select button to select Audio Out/Optical on the Sound Output menu. ( Settings up

directional button Sound Output).

– Use the Settings screen to change to the connected device:

Select Audio Out/Optical on the Sound Output menu. ( Settings Sound Sound Output).

I thought you were using an optical to analog adapter from your Samsung TV to your receiver for sound? That's what you need to do to get sound for ANYTHING on your TV to get to your receiver. The TV gets its signal from the Fios box via HDMI, or creates its own via streaming apps,then sends it out via optical to the converter, then to your receiver. That way anything you watch on your TV along with streaming apps on your TV will go to the receiver

I am using the USB port on the side to power the converter. I don't have a model number but it was the same link you gave me, Autoutlet 192 kHz optical converter. I shut off the tv and pulled out the usb plug and the optical cable. I then plugged the power usb connector and then pushed in the optical connector.

I can't believe I didn't ask this earlier. I have to change the optical when I plan to use the the receiver connection, right? Because the verizon STB is connected by the hdmi, so when I change the input to the samsung tv I have to change it to optical, because the tv speaker is the hdmi connection.
