I have Fios TV + . I'm having an issue where it's outputting Dolby Vision all the time. There are no settings in Android TV settings to disable or set to auto.
@jlww1034 wrote: Yes. I can disable through my AVR but the issue is by doing so sends 8 bit resulution on only to my display. Most programming is 10 and 12 bit. The higher the bit rate the better the picture. I had Tivo for many years and they had a auto feature for HDR. If HDR was detected it automatically turn on. So upscaling 720p programming to 4k the picture is flat and not clear. Seems unusual that Verizon would default Dolby Vision in the software where there are no Verizon channels that support this feature except for a few 4k channels like the present Olympic and NESN channels. Fios One boxes had the ability to set HDR to auto. Verizon needs a fix for this.

As I said they are working on a fix. Can you just disable HDR on the TV instead of the AVR? That shouldn't cause any reduction in bit rate. Also technically, disabling HDR in the receiver shouldn't reduce bit rate either. HDR has nothing to do with the resolution of the signal, only the dynamic range of the image.

Sounds like the same behavior the 4100 minis had. If there isn't a setting for DV as the minis now have, you may have to set your TV to not allow DV processing.

Support says there will be a switch incorporated in an upcoming update. The boxes will output HDR 10 if the connected display supports it. Support wants to know what display you have connected and what issues you are seeing.
Thanks.
Hisense 75U8H Mico LED TV HDMI 2.1. Have bypassed Yamaha A6A AVR and connected directly to tv. Fios TV+ box outputs Dolby Vision all the time. Either connected to AVR ot TV same issue.

As long as both connected devices support HDR, the Fios box will output HDR until they finish programing the option to disable it. You could always disable HDR on the devices if the PQ is unacceptable for now.
Any word when the update will roll out?
So, Verizon added the addition of a switch enabling and disabling HDR. It does nothing. The issue is that they need to update the Android platform to Android 12. Look at the the Stream TV box android settings and the Fios TV + Android settings. The Stream TV box has been updated to Android 12 and has the HDR functionality to disable HDR as well as a larger selection of audio functions. The Stream TV box also has CEC ability.

Which Fios boxes do you have? If it is a 4100 series we can get into the service menu and disable HDR there.
Fios + device box and VMS-4100 ATV Media Server.

Sorry, don't have the info for getting into that devices service menu yet.
Just checked and your TV doesn't have a 10 bit panel anyway. The Hisense 75U8H does not have a true 10-bit panel. Instead, it uses a 8-bit + FRC panel that mimics a 10-bit color depth.
My TV+ box recently updated from 1.3.55 to 1.3.59.
I haven't noticed any changes. Does verizon ever do change-logs for these updates?
For sony - On your TV settings - watching TV, external inputs, HDMI signal format, change to standard. Waa laa.
No they don't. It was the addition of a HDR toggle in the Video Settings for the Fios TV + box. Does nothing for network channels., still forced HDR. Basically for streaming.
Don't understand, either you want to be in the TV business or not. Very poor plateform. Have had several dvr's and Fios TV boxes because of technical issues. And still having problems. Just got tired of calls to customer service and returning and replacing equipment. Had Tivo and a cable card for 14 years, never had a problem until I had to switch to Fios equipment because they no long support cable cards. I guess they just want to sell internet and cell phones. Probably 15 phone calls since July of 2024 with issues regarding this equipment. Every customer service person puts in that magic service ticket that's supposed to fix the issues.. Hasn't yet.
Why has this not been fixed. It’s been like a year. Turn it off it looks terrible. What is wrong with you? This is SDR content not DV. It makes it dark. Turn it off. How long does it take????
