I cancelled an order through customer service, and was assured the phone wouldn't ship. I then called again when a shipping notification was sent, and was assured that my order had been cancelled and to ignore it. Then I ended up having to return the phone to a store after it had been shipped to me despite 2 assurances it wouldn't. And despite all this, I was charged $50 on a phone I shouldn't have been sent in the first place.
I'm tempted to file a chargeback with my credit card company, since Verizon is at fault, but I want to see if Verizon customer service can help before I escalate.
