I have a phone and a phone number but I really need to get an old phone number back. How do I do that?
Phone numbers are up for recycling after 45 days (?), I'm not exactly sure on what the time frame is. If you only recently changed numbers and want the old one back and the old number was also with Verizon, you could ask to see if the old number is still available. If it is, it can be given back to you. But if it's already someone else's number, no dice.
Hey there, Hessakillah1498, we can understand the importance of holding on to a phone number! Was the phone number in question originally activated with Verizon or was it ported in from another carrier? How long ago was the number switched/disconnected?

This happened to me, the way i got my number back was,
Verizon lets you request the first 6 digits when creating an account, but once you create the entire account you can request the entire number if its not given to someone else already, once i got my number back i transferred that number to my original plan.
Your number might called an aging number so when you speak to them make sure to mention that it might be an aging number.
Once I got that number back and transferred the number i closed that account so it didn't cost me that much.
